Happy Friday: What Saving Money Allows Me To Do…
Sent from reader, Michelle:
Hi Collin! I just wanted to send a quick note letting you know that I love to look at all the deals you post each day, and sometimes help pass some along as well. I also wanted to let you know about a couple of projects I have started or been a part of lately, and that those are made possible by the deals that I find on your site. I was able to be a part of a group that made “Birthday Bags” for families to pick up for their children at our local food bank. I had enough toys and goodies in my “gift closet” to make half of the bags donated myself! This idea got me thinking and I decided to make “Birthday Bags” for our local county home. I had donated some items at Christmas time, however the director at the county home said, “Everyone thinks of us at Christmas, it is the rest of the year that the residents are forgotten”.
So with help from Hip2save and other deals I have found, I will be making bags for each of the residents for their birthday. I had 8 to do this month because I am catching up from the beginning of the year. Not every item I included was one that was free or on sale, however with all of my “everyday” savings, I could afford to spend a little extra on some items. I know this site is great about saving everyone money, but to me it is also what that savings allows me to do. I want to keep on saving so my family can be blessed, and that I can afford to bless others as well…

That’s so beautiful! What an amazing heart to think of others and spread some love. I’ve worked in skilled nursing as an Activity Director and some residents are truly forgotten. What a wonderful pick-me-up for them!
Awesome
That’s so touching. What a great heart you have!

Thank you so much for sharing your story and pictures! You are a blessing to your community! My family is putting together gift baskets for adults with disabilities. 😍
Am speechless… Continue ur great work Michelle!
So awesome. There was a segment on The Chew recently about a group of women that throw birthday parties every month for less fortunate families, it was amazing. I believe it’s called the birthday party project.
That sounds wonderful. I’ll have to look that up as I’d love to be apart of the group. It’s amazing how many kids never have a birthday party.
You’re amazing! You’re so right! I always think of Thanksgiving and Christmas but never thought about birthday bag-type giving! Your love is spreading!
Everyone loves to be remembered on their special day and when they aren’t it sure makes them feel rotten (eventhough they are special every day). What a sweet thing you are doing to make people feel good and you should feel great for doing it!
So kind!

What a beautiful thing to give to others who are truly forgotten. I feel the same way and spread a hug or a smile as well when I see them! God bless you! 🙏😇🌹
so sweet of you and inspiration for others.
Wonderful idea! Good job!👍💗😊
Fantastic!!!
Thank you so much for all the kind words. I hope this story gets everyone thinking of ways they can be a blessing in their communities… P.S. My 14 year old daughter was very excited because she took the pictures and had helped me with this project…
Awesome that your daughter is learning from you to help those less fortunate! What solid, caring morals you are instilling in her! Just great! ❤
Michelle you have a heart of gold dear! I worked at the biggest nursing home in my area for over 8 years. This facility had 220+ beds & the lady you spoke to is definitely correct. Unfortunately, most organizations only think about those residents at Christmas. I’m so proud of you for seeing this need and those residents will love you more than you will ever know.
What an incredible idea! So thoughtful and such a good way to pay it forward.
Wow, what an inspiration. I would love to do something like this myself. Thanks for sharing!

That’s great Michelle. I love the thought of birthday bags! Thanks for inspiring all of us! I’m thinking your good deed just branched off into many more good deeds. And good job to your daughter too. Your family is so kind 😊
Does anyone remember the nurses who slave for them??? No….
If you are mad thar someone didnt get you a gift for “slaving” over others wity disabilities, then shane on you? Why are you even in the field of nursing? I work long and hard shifts as a clinician at a mental health facility. Sure, it can be exhausting work. Buy I certainly never feel like I have to “slave” over anyone! And I pray for anyone that ever gets you as a nurse!
I couldn’t love this more! I, too, love to give whenever I can and have had this on my “idea list”. You are awesome for doing this and inspiring others! Thank you!
Thanks for inspiring all of us hip2save followers! You make me want to be a better person and hopefully everyone else too. You truly are an amazing and kind! Hats off to you! 😘
