Does anyone know how good the New Member deals are? Deciding on whether to do this or not…

    • Dany

Plus is normally $100 so right there you are getting a 50% discount. Also the freebies and the gift card equal more than $45. Between all that plus the cash back % on plus memberships, you are getting it better than free. I did it last year and they had different free fresh food like cupcakes and grapes as well as the chicken. Awesome deal. The pharmacy is great too. My maintenance drugs are all free with Plus. I didn’t renew this year but will be testing out Costco with a similar H2S deal.

I did this deal last Thursday and still have not received the gift card or free items. Has anyone got theirs, do they come by email?

    • Kendra

I read earlier that Sam’s Club is aware of an internal error with the promotion and they’re working to get it resolved and our accounts will be updated as soon as possible.

    • Michelle

I did it saturday. Got the $25 gc on the spot. I just set up the mobile app and i added the pie and potatoes to the cart and they showed 0.00 charge. So must be loaded on your card.

      • Cindy

Wow, I did it Saturday also but have gotten nothing except a regular membership with no extras. When I called yesterday, CS said to give it 5 more days because corporate knows there’s a problem with the online signup. Congrats on being a whole lot luckier! 🤑

    • Heather C

They are automatically applied to your card when you go in store to physically get your card. The “auto load” takes about 48 hours so you can’t get the free food the same day that you physically get your card

    • Lin

I regret doing it online. Seems people that did it in person have had an easier time. I did it last Thurs online and still don’t have any upgrade or extras. I’ve called corporate, they offered no answers but gave me a reference# and said they were backed up and would look into it. I still have my fingers crossed.

      • Cindy

Same here! Wish I’d done it in-store.

        • Kendra

I went to the store today and thy had to refund my original membership I bought online last week, then I had to pay $45 for the new one with the Plus upgrade and I got my $25 gift card. She said all the instant savings would be added to my card within 24 hours. It was such a pain, and the poor people in the store said corporate completely messed this one up and made it extremely difficult.

          • Cindy

Thanks for the update, Kendra. If nothing’s changed with my online deal by Monday, I may go to our Sam’s Club and do the same thing (although right now I’m tempted to just cancel, get my refund, and be done with Sam’s Club completely).

            • Lin

I got an email back from corporate today. It says they are aware the upgrade and freebies haven’t been loaded. They said they are working as fast as they can to remedy the problem and everyone will get those things. They said to wait until early next week …. So we continue to wait and cross our fingers. I feel much better after getting that in writing from Sams though.

which is better to join costco or sams?

    • sharon skidmore

Depends on whether you like walmart items or a higher class and better choices with Costco. Would choose Costco any day.

    • Susie

Sue, I’ve had both in the past but actually like Sam’s best because they have the products I need at a really good price. Costco would be better if you like organic items, they have a much larger selection of that. Sam’s has more brand name items where Costco is heavy on their private label “Kirkland” which in some cases is higher than the national brand and people pay it since it is suppose to be a “premium” brand. Costco has more middle to upper class shoppers where Sam’s has the typical Walmart crowd which doesn’t bother me, I’m simply shopping for the best prices on the items my family uses.

how many people get a card in one family? if i join can my mother shop there?

    • Susie

You have the main card plus a “household” card. I have put my mother in law on the “household” card so she can shop there without me being present.

  5. Guacho Nieto

Apparently this is supposed to be only for new members, so every year I trick the system by entering a throw-away email address, and a slight variation on my home address.

    Win!

  6. lisa

I have done deals like this each year.My husband & I switch each year who has the main card then we just add eachother.

  7. Sarakate25

I am a member and my fiancé is my 2nd- can we flip for a new membership??? This is the same deal we got
    When we joined last May

  8. Eric

Can you use this in conjunction with the Discover card deal? I have a postcard from discover that they will give me a 20$ GC for becoming a member and paying with my discover card.

  9. cobbersmom

After 7 business days, I got tired of waiting and took all the paperwork (screen prints, codes, everything I could think of) to my local store. They were kind enough to cancel the membership I’d bought online (the one that didn’t work) and then start over using the emailed codes version. According to the nice gal who helped me, of the 7 people she’d talked to who had done the deal online, only 1 person had it work correctly. So she was quite knowledgeable about how to help me. And after about 15 minutes I walked out with my Plus membership and gift card*.

*Because our particular Sam’s Club doesn’t carry the correct apple pie shown in the offer, I actually received a $35 gc instead of the $25 one. I was totally fine with that!

Lesson learned – get the deal by email and take the email codes into the store.
