Uber

UBER

If you own a car and are looking to start earning some extra money when the kids are at school or outside of your regular full-time job hours, consider becoming an Uber driver-partner! Uber gives you the freedom to choose when you drive (drive most days, a few hours a week, or only now and then!), where you drive, and who you pick up – you are entirely in control of your schedule. This flexibility is a must for busy parents!

Keep in mind that to partner with Uber, your vehicle must be 2005 or newer, have 4 or more doors and not be salvaged. Also note that all Uber drivers are required to go through a simple background check for safety (at no cost to you) and to upload a valid drivers license. If you’re an Uber driver, feel free to share your experience below!

Hopefully the person who hacked our credit card and took almost $100 in UBER rides received this! 😡👎

    • kim

      Wow! 🙁

  2. Georgia

Not a fan of uber. Be careful!!!

    • Bethany

Funny how back in the 80’s our parents told us to never get in a car with a stranger. Invent a cool app and voila! All common sense goes out the window. $25 savings isn’t worth putting my life at risk!

      • K

So you never take a cab or bus either?

        • Katie

Exactly. Have people never read about the dangerous things that happen all the time to people using public transportation routes like buses and yellow taxi cabs? Use the same precaution as you would with any of these. I’ve used uber many times while traveling for business and have had great experience so far. Much easier an cheaper than using taxis.

Is this safe to put credit card info in??!? Never had uber account

  4. Karen

We got hacked by uber also. Had to close our credit card & file a fraud report. We have never used them. User beware!

    • Chris

You were not hacked by uber. You had your card number stolen elsewhere (gas pump, hacked online store, card skimmer, etc). Your info was sold and entered into someone’s under account. There is nothing to beware.

Your card info couldn’t have come from uber if you never used it. Stolen card info is sold in bulk online.

      • Katie

Thanks for clarifying that , Chris. There are a few misinformed people commenting about uber “hacking” cards on here.

    Thanks for the code!

Uber has significantly cut down on drunk driving issues in our college town. Huge fan.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So glad to hear that! Thanks for sharing!

  9. sam

    what does referral gets?

  10. Mike

Lyft does even better with ride code MARLBORO for your first 5 rides for free (up to $10). It’s my code so I’d appreciate your help!

    Thanks!

  11. Jessie

Bethany, while I don’t disagree with you I don’t see how it is much different from calling a cab right?

    • Dianna Baxter

So true!!!! I became an Uber driver about 2 weeks before St. Patrick’s day. Alot of ppl say that is why they are using me so that they can drink & NOT drive.

  12. nancy

My husband is an uber driver and earns an average of $20/hour. It’s great as a side income. He does it on the weekends when he feels like it. For those fearing safety, the driver’s info is loaded on the app (license #, car description, etc) and they have the drivers bank acct# for payment. The user just has to use common sense and not jump into any car but match up the driver with the app (since the app shows the pic of the driver and type of car).

  13. Patricia

I drove for Uber and I’ll NEVER Do it again! They warn everyone to be careful of their drivers however I’d never wish the headaches, disrespectful, entitled, rude mean people on my worst enemy.

  14. Cakie

Two of my friends have been involved in car accidents while riding in an Uber, and Uber is HORRIBLE about providing any kind of insurance information so you can go to the dr. Use Lyft instead. Much better company.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So sorry to hear that 🙁 Thanks for the honest feedback!

  15. Sam

Lyft is better by far. If you are thinking about driving, the are much better to their employees. Also, I have ridden in both and only chose Lyft!

  16. Natalie

I would be so appreciative if someone could use my link! I’m going to be interning in LA this summer without a car and am planning to use Uber a TON! Thanks so much 🙂

Just used Uber for the first time. It was unbelievably easy and I should add, a pleasant experience! No tipping is required (not even an option). You just hop out when you’re at your destination!

I usually just walk everywhere but it seems like Uber would be a great alternative when my trek is in the evening and farther away. I would be so grateful if you used my link.

Tipping encouaged by Uber to the drivers would make this job perfect! Without tips job not worth the money at all, such a bummer! Bcuz i really enjoy it

    • Sandy

Lyft app has tipping, you should look into it!

      • Amber

Just signed up! The app and the application process are so WONDERFUL, I have higher hopes with Lyft, thanks for the suggestion!

  20. Michael

It’s amazing how Uber has turned people into pesky beggars to please sign up for my Uber .
I couldn’t even finish reading the comments as it seemed at a certain point it became a ” Me, Me,Me ” fest.
I think I’ll stick to the GOID old fashioned way of getting around, safely!

  21. Ruthie

I just signed up this weekend and used it for the first time. I was impressed with how easy it was, and the driver was so nice! He even offered us bottles of water. Here is my invite code for a free ride, I would be so appreciative if someone uses it!
