I never understand the math on these. It seems like the $5 gift card is taken of in the beginning and then again when you get $5 gift card for the purchase. I’ve not found this to be the case. Can someone explain? Are we assuming that I already have a $5 gift card from a previous deal?
I see that the gift card is, in fact, taken into account twice on deal #1 and #2. This is incorrect. The $5 gift card is money you get back. Usually the math on these posts isn’t wrong but on deal 1 and 2 it is. #3 seems to be correct.
I agree.. this is my calculation
21.97 – 3 (three 1 off coupons) = 18.97 – 4 (one 4 off/2 coupon) = 14.97 -5 (for the 5 GC you are getting) = 9.97.

I know these are confusing but I believe the scenarios are correct as there are two separate $5 gift cards available in the above scenarios. If you purchase the items listed to get your total to $20, show the Target store coupon first (from ad or via txt on mobile phone), that is the first $5 gift card you would receive for purchasing $20 in qualifying merchandise. Then there is also a separate $5 gift card for purchasing two Banana Boat items (scenario 1) valid thru 7/16. For scenario 2, FREE $5 Gift Card wyb 2 select Coppertone Deal and prices valid thru 7/16. Hope that helps make more sense of the confusion 😉 I keep some of the $5 gift cards in my purse so I turn them around each time I get one to make it work out in my head that I’m getting that perk immediately!
