While these are a great price, I agree with the comments on Amazon. These are not “sight word” books, even though they’re labeled as level 1. These are great books to read to your child, but don’t expect them to pick it up and read the whole thing right away if they’re an emergent reader. As an elementary teacher who specializes in teaching children how to read, I would recommend the scholastic little readers books for home, if that’s what you’re looking for. Or, if you are willing to pay a (much) higher price, lakeshore learning has the best books! Whether your child is just beginning to read or a fluent reader, their leveled books are leveled appropriately and accurately. Please understand that I am not discouraging people from buying this boxed set. I just think it’s a little misleading labeling the box at a level 1. Hope this helps! 😃

These are the first books my daughter was able to read! They are fantastic for early readers learning to sound out words and guess at words based on the pictures.
