As just one idea, you can score this highly rated Zwilling J.A. Henckels 15 Piece Knife Block Set for just $109.99 shipped (regularly $299.99) when you use the code MORE at checkout. This set includes a 4″ paring knife, 5″ serrated utility knife, 8″ bread knife, 8″ chef’s knife, 9″ sharpening steel, Kitchen shears, eight 4.5″ Twin Gourmet steak knives and a hardwood knife block.

Check out what my Sidekick, Lina, had to say about these knives:

These knives are the BEST, and super high quality. They were a wedding gift ten years ago and are in use every day. A few years ago the handle started separating on one knife and I sent it to be fixed for free from Henckels.

(Thanks, Tina!)

These are the (lower-end) “stamped” knives from Henkels. They’re not the higher-quality forged “Professional S” Zwilling knives that look quite similar (but are made differently). My guess is the sidekick has the forged knives — they’ve had a reputation for excellence for decades for their forged products, but they are very pricey compared to the stamped ones.

I agree with the statement about the (lower end) stamped knives. Rather than buy a stamped knife set, I think it is smarter to buy one or two forged knives that you will use almost daily. BTW what are they cutting in the picture??
