michael'sMichaels shoppers! You may want to swing by your nearest store to see if they are offering up $3 Grab Bags and/or Boxes! In the past, readers have been able to find lots of awesome goodies in these bags that were definitely valued at more than $3!

I purchased a few boxes at my local store that were filled with greenery pieces valued at $3.99 per piece and each box was filled with these pieces! I also scored a box filled with cardboard gift boxes shaped in different letters.

(Thanks, Birgitte!)

I’ve never seen these. Are you allowed to peek inside before buying??

    • Elaine

You’re not suppose to. Sometimes you can see through the bag and get an idea of what’s inside

  2. laurat

Oh fun! I hope my store is doing this!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      I hope so too!

  3. Casey Meyers

Not a fan of mystery bags/boxes because I don’t like not knowing whats inside. If I don’t like even one thing I feel like I have wasted my money.

  4. Heather Pulley

I promised myself I would never buy these again…lol. I always think they are fun and tempting, but never end up using anything. It all basically takes up space or gets donated. MUST…STAY…STRONG… haha

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Lol! 😉

I remember I bought some in January. I stopped by to get stuff for a diaper cake for a friend’s baby shower and left with 2 giant marquee signs that were $2 grab bags. Now I’m going to use them for Christmas this year lol

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome!

  6. Misty

If you are a crafter, I would take a chance!

I see they are no longer $2. STILL a great deal for a box filled with “stuff”. 🙂

    • Erin

I think it might vary based on size/amount of “stuff.” I saw these for the first time a month or so ago and they had only a decorative star, red, white, and blue string lights, and maroon acrylic craft paint and they were $2. Those are some pretty large boxes for $3! Oh, and I think if you shop Michael’s a lot, you may be able to judge whether your store has these based on how much clearance/out-of-season merchandise your store has. I’m betting my stores won’t because they are seriously picked over–they don’t have any fall/Thanksgiving stuff at all!

    • ej

It depends on what’s inside. 2 weeks ago they had some for$2 and this week they have some for $3-4.

The Michael’s in SE Denver (Park Meadows) sold out of them right away this morning, just FYI. Hope some folks got some great items! 🙂

  9. Sarah

I loooove these things, great for add ons, or gift baskets, teacher gifts… Recently I got a ton of emoji and finding dorey stuff in them, as well as canvases, wasahi tape and cupcake liners, stands and sugar toppers

    • CourtneyAmanda Smythe

Washi tape 🙀🙀. Definitely worth it 👍👍

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

What great finds Sarah! Thanks for sharing!

  10. Amani

I love finding these! I always get something worth my $2-$3 bucks. Then I’m Happy to donate what I know I will not use.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      That’s great to hear!

I have grabbed mine on Monday and I must say I am always pleased with the items in my bag. This is the second time grabbing a grab bag. The first time I saw a grab bag was back in late August or early September, and that bag was only 2 bucks.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet!

Just made a trip there for the grab bag. A bag was opened so I looked inside and an attendant quickly got on me for looking. I explained the bag was open already but she quickly tied it shut. I was polite but said ok thank you and left. She said I was welcome to look through the bag as they were clear but she was rude. Oh well. Win some lose some.

I got a boatload of letters, frames and cute decor items!! These are so fun and I’ve been thinking of selling on eBay soon so this might be perfect to do with the letters I won’t use! There were also small letters in my boxes that will be great additions to Christmas and teacher gifts!!

    • Tiffany

Would love to buy them from u. We have a gift shop for our school where kids buy cheap gifts for their parents. My store has no grab bags. Please email me 😉

    • K.

      Sure why not.

    • Pamela

Of course you can call and ask. I have worked retail for the past 20 years and know you won’t sound weird at all.

  15. Tiffany

I just missed out Michaels had a shopping cart of big grab bags $2 a piece however the person in front of me purchased 72 bags and left none for anyone else. It was crazy. Guess it wasn’t meant to be for me!

    • K

      72 bags!!! Oh my!

  17. Bridgette

In Virginia we still have some, which had the letters and halloween clearance and fall clearance

  18. Aishley S

I was able to grab a V box , Z sign , a bloody shower curtain, two halloween craft thingy, a flower DIY and a wooden tiny coffin. Worth 3$. They have still a lot left in Suwanee, GA. also they are in bags. You can clearly guess what is inside. I tried to peek through and no body cared about it. LOL.

Thank you Collin for posting this! I was so surprised that the Michael’s I went by today had some boxes! I picked up two! One of my boxes had three super hero shirts (which I will use for stocking stuffers), a small chalkboard, a magnetic heart board, and some paper lantern lights! The other box, was Halloween themed. It had about 75 items in the box (including ribbon, pencils, pens, cupcake wrappers and Halloween décor). I can’t wait to share my boxes with my mom!

How soon after the holiday are they available?
