which is better professional or artisan? thanks
Professional
Why?
Usually has more power than artisan.
The Professional has all STEEL parts and the Artisan has some plastic.
Professional
Can someone please elaborate on why they think professional?
The Professional series has a more powerful motor (575 watts versus 325 watts) as well as bigger capacity (6 quarts versus 5 quarts). The additional price may not justify the Pro purchase unless you plan to use it on a daily basis.
Professional! This one is too weak. When you investing in item like this mind as well spend few more $ and get professional. I bought artisan and it burned in that first same week, luckily it was an easy return to my local Best Buy.
maybe this’ll help: https://trendy-kitchen.com/kitchenaid-artisan-vs-professional-mixer-comparison/ ๐
Thanks!
I don’t know which is better, but I can vouch for the artisan. I have had mine close to 10 years now and it works perfectly for my family. I am not a professional baker or chef. We use ours for various cookie, cake and food making. We almost always use it for mashed potatoes. I love mine.
Thanks all… one thing I don’t like about my artisan is stuff “pools/gets clumpy” in the bottom area, like the mixer can’t reach the very bottom where it locks into the stand. Not everything does it, but things like Jello and cheese cream based desserts always do. Is the professional bowl totally rounded on the bottom? It looks like it in pictures since it is raised.
I have the professional 6qt one. I saw the artisan smaller ones at target yesterday & wow what a huge difference in size. I love my huge one, bought at Sam’s club & have had it for about 3years now. The Bowl is still rounded at the bottom, but you could always buy the extra beater/mixer attachment that scrapes the bowl better. Or I just scrap the bottom in the middle of mixing to make sure all the ingredients are mixed evenly. You will LOVE this mixer. I bake all the time & it’s so much easier than using hand held ones.
I have an Artisan now that is pretty old, and I think I have burned it down trying to perfect meringues. Plus we are about to do a military move so I am secretly hoping the movers break it (if you don’t know about military moves, they are notorious for breaking stuff) so I can get a new on, ha! I hate having to stop and scrape all the way down to the bottom with a spatula… I will look into that scraper beater in the meantime, thank you!!
Love making meringues with my kitchen aid! My girls (8&5) love them & we can never keep enough around! Lol Have you tried making them in smaller sizes? I find the star tip bigger ones get Chevy inside & crispy outside, but making with smaller star tip with piping bag makes everything crispy. Happy baking. And yes, I have friends in military & I hear they are terrible with breaking stuff in boxes. THANK YOU for your families’ service & sacrifices. ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ Happy Holidays!
That happened to me too and I have the Pro one.
You might need to adjust your mixer. Its the screw on the neck when you have the head up. It adjusts so your beater will reach the bottom without scraping.
Thank you for putting this list together, it really is a good comparison. Thank you for all you do, H2S!
You’re so welcome Heather!
thank you for this post. I am wondering if any one is still speculating that the 5qt at Kohls (the one with lots of color options) will be on a 40% coupon in December (with only $10 kolas cash on every $50)? I remember a few weeks back reading comments indicating this happens most years. I appreciate any advice as I want to get one for my niece and need the lowest cost. Thanks all!!
