Sorry, I’ll be home eating and playing games with my family, but it is a great deal I will have to miss.

    • Kate

      I’ll be at the store!

    • Katie

I’m with you. At home. I feel bad for the employees.

      • carol

Honestly overtime is great, many workers appreciate it. I used to love working holidays because it would help with the bills. At my job it was volunteer based. Holidays should not be the only time you spent with the family.

  2. Allison

    3pm? :/

  3. Amani

Does anyone know if they will give coupons to children?

    • Melissa

No – 18 or older has always been the policy at my store.

    • Queenjen87

Be sweet if they did. My 7 year old would love to pick out a free mommy gift :p

    • Luna

Nope, they should be able to pay for themselves only then they can get coupons

    • Mel

My son is a tall 9 year old and my store here in Richmond,Va has always given him one too. Once they asked him if he had a credit card. He said “no, but I brought my money” . Of course, that was earlier this year not on super heavy shopping days. So we’ll see how they handle it tomorrow.

    • NavyMom

They gave them to mine and my friend’s children the last time they passed them out. My daughter is 6 and my friend’s are 6 and 9.

    • Amanda

My store gives the coupon to my 22 month old ha!

    • DeanOC

Probably depends on how busy the store is, ours in Virginia Beach will not give them to kids. Last time they did this people were argueing with employees because their kids couldnt get them and the employees held their ground.

      • NavyMom

Hi there fellow Virginian. The one at Chesapeake Square gave them out to children at the last event. 🙂 I guess it may just depend on the person handing them out.

  4. Briana

Meanwhile, we’ll be eating dinner at 1:30 so my mom can go hand out the coupons. ☹️

  5. MK

For large value coupons $500 and $100, do we have to be first in the queue or is it given out randomly?

    • Christy

      Usually randomly

    • DeanOC

The value is given out completely in random, the employees dont even know how much theyre worth until the customer opens them. It would be total madness if people thought the first person in line got the high value ones. People fight over $10 pjs I dont want to know the fights over a $500 coupon lol.

    It’s not working for me…..hmmm….?

  7. GG

Thank you, but no thank you…
    That’s FAMILY time…
Time to give give thanks and fellowship… worth way more than that 🙂

    • Chad

      Absolutely! Completely agree

    • Kate

      I’ll be at the store!

  8. E

3pm is ridiculous. They have some good deals, but shopping can wait till after my kids are in bed! Black Friday was more fun when we had to get up at like 5am ON Black Friday to get the deals!

    • Ape

I’m with you on this one. I would love to go but my family time is more important.

    • c

Omg i used to love that too. The husbands at home sleeping while the wifes were out shopping. We used to plan out our day all friday, but now its harder because different stores open diffrent days.

  9. Daniela

Nice! Just need to walk in and walk out and can shop later from home. I like those coupons!

    • NavyMom

The last time they handed out coupons, my friend and I had issues using them online. When we called customer service, they said if it doesn’t work online, then they must be used in store.

    • Andrea G.

They are valid in store only. I was there last night and they had signs posted at the registers stating they made a mistake on the Ad, and they coupons would only work in-store.

  10. mobro

Free 10 holiday cards expires today from Shutterfly. I am not gonna use it. Enjoy and Happy turkey day!

    • Rebecca

Thanks for the free cards code! Happy Thanksgiving!

  11. An

3 pm is early. Will there be a lot of people at JCP on thanksgiving? Do I need to wait outside before 3 to get coupon?

    • DeanOC

Yes people will be there. Depends on how busy your area is how early to get there. We have a moderately heavy traffic area and Id say to be in line around 1-1:30 here.

  12. Emily

I would love to take advantage of a deal like this, but it’s still LIGHT OUTSIDE at 3:00 on Thanksgiving. At least wait until the evening hours when we’re done eating thanksgiving dinner.

  13. Dwilson19

Love jcp but hate this offer! I am a constant jcp shopper and go to every coupon give away but 3pm on thanksgiving is a no no. Plus my bro in law will miss thanksgiving since he goes in to work at noon. Rant done! Thanks for reading 😒

  14. Laura

Why are the Black Friday deals IF they are on Thanksgiving?? Stop it! Hate the holiday greed

  15. Kristen

If you don’t like the time- don’t shop! Our family spends thanksgiving 12 hours away from home working in an operation Christmas child distribution center this week. However they close on thanksgiving day but what are we supposed to do 12 hours from home? We shop!!! We are spending time together but maybe a little different than everyone else. It’s better than sitting in a hotel room all day. Our thanksgiving consists of Waffle House every year 😂😉

    • Laura

It’s about the greed. The people making the decisions to be open AREN’T working on Thanksgiving. But they want to be open. I’m thankful my son’s employer has decided to stay closed on Thanksgiving so that we can spend the day as a family.

      • Kristen

That’s fine. I see that side, but I also know for our situation it works out good. 👍🏼

    • Renee

Think of all those employees that have to leave there families on Thanksgiving, just so people can shop. I get it if you are helping others but letting people shop, I don’t believe is a need.

      • Kristen

I’m a retail employee actually so I understand..to some extent

      • Anna

No but our society is so consumer based that’s it’s become a sad reality. Christmas is more commercialized than what is used to be, about Jesus. It’s sad

    • Staceyque

Think of all the employees who don’t HAVE family, and need the time and a half pay to work on Thanksgiving. I’m sure they are thankful to be around people and make overtime on their paycheck, rather than be home alone. Not everyone has family, and not everyone has anyone to spend the day with. Jeez, people always assume everyone else has to be exactly like them. My work is closed, but if I could work for overtime tomorrow, I would be thrilled! I don’t have any family to spend the day with. It makes me sad that everyone is only seeing ‘their’ side of the coin. I’ll be there tomorrow, it will give me something to do.

  16. Desire

Wow. 3 pm?? No thanks JCP. I’d rather be at home with my family.

  17. M.

I won’t be going shopping on Thanksgiving day. I know that not everyone has family to celebrate with but you are keeping employees from celebrating with their families. Our local grocery store is not open all day on Thanksgiving. Let all non-emergency workers have a day off!

    • M.

I meant the grocery store is NOW open

  18. Hope

lol at all of the complainers. If you don’t go want to shop on thanksgiving, then don’t shop on thanksgiving. Not everyone celebrates the day and some employees are happy for the extra money in their checks.

    • Chad

Then they should make a law that says if you believe in Thanksgiving that your employer can’t force you to work! Yea right. You think the ‘non-believers’ are the only ones shopping??. HAHAHA. You have to think of the people being forced to work!

  19. Chad

Shame on the individuals that shop on Thanksgiving. I cannot see how leaving your family, and even if you don’t have one, forcing retailers and their families to have to work so that you can get a deal. It’s absurd. Retailers only offer shopping on Thanksgiving because there is a DEMAND for it. It’s horrible. I understand online shopping, but come on people.

    • Susan

Online shopping still requires people to work that day. There are online chat representatives, call centers, IT folks, so you really shouldn’t online shop either…

      • Renee

I don’t online shop that day either, I just don’t shop on Thanksgiving. I used to be the crazy one at the store by 5 am years ago, to get the deal and it was a blast, but I refuse to do any shopping on Thanksgiving.

    • Kate

People who work holidays often get overtime, or time and a half. Those of us who shop also use that time as a tradition. Don’t shame me for doing my thing.

    • Kristen

This comment made me lol…so quick to judge other people it’s hilarious actually 😂😂

  20. Amy

I’m a new JCPenney shopper. Where do you get the coupon in store? Is there someone in front of the store handing them out? Or do you have to ask a cashier for it? Thanks.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Amy! It can depend on the store. You should see store associates handing them out. If not, be sure to ask!

    • DeanOC

Our stores hand them out at the door and you have to be single file. If theres a set of double doors they only unlock the ones on the right until everyone in line gets in and gets a coupon or they run out of coupons. They shouldnt be something you have to ask for, its a major promotion.

  21. tracy

Perfect for me…i leave work at 3pm. Yay

  22. Rebecca C.

Can’t wait to get some great deals!
    Thanks Collin 😊

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome!

  23. Raquel

Not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving. And for those that “have” to work, they also had a choice in where decided to apply for work knowing there was a chance they would have to work during the holidays. Obviously the greater % of shoppers choose to shop or else opening on Thanksgiving wouldn’t be such a big deal. Oh & not to mention the countless people who don’t have family so choose to work for the extra $$$. And the ones working should be grateful they even have a job. Don’t wanna work during the holidays, look for a company that isn’t open during the holidays. Don’t wanna support early shopping, then stay home, more parking space & deals for us.

    • Brooke

Many long time employees started working for a company that was closed on holidays. Should the employees with 20 years in have to quit and try to find a new job? I guess they will just have to suffer and miss their families so others can shop til they drop one more day out of 365. But, at least they have a job.

    • Raquel

Like I have said before, don’t like that your job is open/work on holidays, look for another regardless of how long you have worked there. It is called a choice. I for one do not need a fake day on the calendar to tell me to spend time with my family, I do that when ever I want. And if you do celebrate Thanksgiving, I pray you are educated behind the truth of the so called holiday.

  24. Rebecca C.

    👍

  25. Jenn

I refuse to shop here this year. Opening at 3pm is disgusting. Whatever happened to Black Friday actually being on Friday? Corporate greed is waaaaaay out of control.

    • Brooke

      I agree!

  26. Brooke

Having been working in retail for 17 years, I completely hate that stores are open on holidays like thanksgiving. A lot of businesses that used to be closed on holidays, now have to stay open to stay competitive, and those employees could not have foreseen that years ago. Most employers will ask who wants to work the holidays, but at least at my store hardly anyone signed up, so now people are being forced to. And missing their families. I miss the way it used to be 🙁 to each their own, but I will not be supporting the trend by shopping tomorrow.

  27. Jenn

Just checking out the deals for JCP now for my shopping trip later today, FRIDAY, and have to comment on the pro-thanksgiving shoppers out there. First of all I love to shop and I love great deals–that’s why I check out this site. But I try do be a conscious consumer as much as possible. It isn’t corporate greed that fuels this, it is consumer greed that does–consumers demand, corporations supply. In a capitalistic society we vote with our wallet and this is what we got. People like Rachel feel they are entitled to get what they want, when they want it, even if it means at the expense of a single mother who will not be able to spend the holiday with her children because a corporation has given her the ultimatum to work the holiday or be fired. And, by the way, most employees working retail are part-time and/or seasonal and do not have to be paid OT. Thank you Rachel for firing me up. I would rather sign up for every penny of welfare available before I would ever work a holiday to serve a narcissistic, self serving person such as yourself who cannot wait ONE extra day to fill their morally devoid life with Thanksgiving Day “doorbusters”

    • Raquel

Whoa, this is a site & while we are entitled to our opinions, no where in this site is there permission to bash one another. Point heard & ignored .

  28. Natalie

I got $500 today. I am so happy. Thank you Jesus.

    • Dee

Wow congratulations! I was just happy to get the 10 dollars which I didn’t get last year. Also they offered clearance deals which they didn’t last year either. I was in line next to someone who got the 100 dollar one. I was very pleased with jcp this year. Yes they are not perfect but they are one of the few stores around that offer coupons with hardly any exclusions and they are very very generous with their coupons. With deals/coupons you can get things throughout the year that you couldn’t get cheaper at wm. I love the st. johns bay tees especially. They are great quality and you can get them at a great deal at certain times. In the past I’ve gotten beautiful clothes-sometimes 2 or 3 items for a couple of dollars after a ten off ten coupon and sale. Long live jcp.

      • Dee

Also the store was fairly busy though lines weren’t terribly long so there was no need to shop online to avoid crowds. So all in all a good experience. Also there was a thirty percent off to use later.

  29. Jean G

WELL, HERE IS THE REAL PROBLEM. JCPENNEY REFUSED TO HONOR ANY OF THESE COUPONS OR PROMOTIONS ON-LINE AS THEY ADVERTISED. The flyer and coupons all said, use in store or online starting Thanksgiving Day. So, those folks who chose to go home and use their coupon online instead of waiting an hour to check out, which was another issue, were out of luck!!!!
I talked with an online supervisor, who was told specifically by upper management to not honor the coupons online. I called the corporate site, and this supervisor also told me the same thing. JCPenney decided ahead of time to refuse to honor the coupon online; they knew this was going to be a problem before the day started and they did nothing to proactively deal with the problem. I am outraged that they are not fixing this for customers.
JCPenney, this is one reason you are losing customers. Fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Answer this one, JCPenney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
