Our labs are aggressive chewers and go right through the red Kongs. If you have a pup like ours, I’d strongly recommend getting the black Kong instead.
I agree. We have shepherd mixes and they demolished the red ones, but the black kongs are still holding up.

Are the black ones made out of a stronger material?
Yes Jer. The black ones are significantly stronger and hold up better than the red ones. We like to smear the inside with peanut butter and throw them in the freezer (we keep them in a separate container away from the “people food”. It gives our pups great enjoyment and we give it to them when we leave the house (so they associated “good things” when we are gone).
I have Rottweiler’s and they love these! I needed a couple more so they could each have their own. Great price! Mine have lasted months. Longer than any other toy that I have purchased.

Got this one and the medium yesterday. Our beagle thinks everything is a chew toy, he’s at that chewing age/stage. He will have a very Merry Christmas! The price on these is so high in the stores that I couldn’t justify it with humans to shop for. Thanks for the heads up!

cool toy but of you let it stand for years I mean ours was about 6yrs. it will “melt” like disintegrated. black melted rubber in my carpet from my 3y old finding it in the old dog toys pile

I was so hoping I could get two–I have two pits and they love to chew! One of my girls will chew on aluminum cans if I don’t take them from here lol! Can’t wait to try these 🙂
I agree that the black ones are significantly stronger. It the red ones are still great. I have a lab we have several kongs. On the weekends I used to fill them up with a portion of her AM food and some veggies or blueberries or cheese and then I’d deal the kong openings with plain yogurt, peanut butter or cheese. I’d put them in the freezer then every weekday morning before I left the house for work, I’d give her a frozen kong to work on. Her eyes still light up when I give her kongs. 🙂 was it some work, yes, but I had piece of mind knowing she was busy, happy, and distracted. 🙂
I spent like $20 on a Kong toy thinking it would be like the best dog toy out there. Not impressed! My dog wouldn’t touch it, and it was weird sticky rubber that made everything from dirt to hair cling to it. I threw ours away. (This was a Kong extreme)
