Out of stock so what else is new.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi there! I am still finding them available for pre order as I click through the link above. Hope this helps!

  2. Charlene

Is this the regular price? I thought they cost $49. 99- $59.99? Just want clarification please. Ty

    • Brandon

      It’s higher than msrp

    • Sara

I don’t know anything about them, but I thought they were normally $50 or $60 too.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yeah, this is certainly higher than the average price they usually are sold for. However, since this has been a Hot item to grab, I wanted to give a heads up. 🙂

  3. Elizabeth

Toys R Us took advantage of the craze and jacked up their prices a couple weeks ago. ‘Tis the season! 🙄

  4. Leslie Ramey

A lady showed me these in October at Walmart and they were $48. She said they would be the toy of the year. Guess she knew what she was talking about. Lol. I had never heard of them.

  5. Kim J-T

Toys R Us has jacked up the price. (Shocking I know)Was able to find one in store earlier this week and this is what I paid.

  6. Hatchimal fan

Yep. It’s supposed to be 49.99-59.99

  7. Mamarenie

I just bought 3 at the store and paid 79.99 each.

    • Brandon

      Doesn’t ToysRUs price match?

      • Tien

Only price match if the other stores have them in stock.

  8. Ashlan

I got one on amazon the other day. now i have to return it because my sister already got one. it was too late for me to cancel it.

    • Daniela

I would sell it on eBay. You will make a profit!

      • Ashlan

not looking to make a profit. i’ve been in the same shoes as everyone else.

        • Mary Caldwell

I’m so glad to hear someone say this. I was just saying if I could get my hands on a few, I would do the same thing. It disgust me that people are trying to sell this item and make a huge profit when so many children just want this at a toy! I’m prepared to have a letter ready for my daughter who will probably not get one.

          • Ashlan

The people trying to make a profit disgust me! Nothing but scalpers taking advantage of people.

          • Ashlan

Hope you’re able to get one! Good luck. Don’t give up.

            • Mary Caldwell

Good news! I put an ad on Craigslist saying “Don’t be stuck with your Hatchimal after Christmas” and it worked! I got one for $65.00 from a nice couple that had an extra one! I can’t believe it!

          • Greta

I bought mine from a scalper😜. He sold it to me for a donation of $80.00 to cancer research with the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. I think if I had an extra I’d do the same, Give it away to someone willing to do some good for others.

            • Mel

Can you be certain it’s going as a donation?

    • Minde

I would be willing to bet you could make someone’s christmas by selling it to them at cost! I know I scored 2 at Walmart even though my kids didn’t want them. Sold them to 2 mommas who were looking for them for exactly what I paid and they were beyond grateful 🙂

      • Ashlan

I would love to do something like that! Not sure where to find people to sell it to? No one I know wanted one. I would prefer to sell it locally.

        • Minde

I did it via Facebook. Just posted that I had 2 for sale, first come, first serve. Both picked up from the very same day. trust me, I could’ve probably sold 20 more in no time!

          • Ashlan

Were these people you knew? Thanks for the idea. Will probably go the Facebook route.

            • Minde

yes, I knew both of them (one I knew well, one was a friend from high school but who I see occasionally). I know that I made a better christmas for 2 kids who had asked santa for these and had parents unable to get them and that was payment enough 🙂 good luck with yours!

              • Ashlan

                Thank you ☺

        • Lisa

How much did you buy this for? My sister in law has been looking like crazy!

          • Ashlan

It was $60 but with tax $65

        • Donia Hicks

I am still trying to find one. I will hold out til the 23rd and if I do not get one then I guess I will pre-order. My work keeps me from being at the right place at the right time…

    • dblD-amber

I would say Craigslist or letgo. Someone would be so excited especially this close to xmas

      • Ashlan

Feel kinda iffy about using craigslist. You hear all these stories. Wouldn’t mind selling locally. I would sell for exactly what I paid. If anyone sees this and is in the NYC area and is interested, let me know.

        • Jen D

Craigslist IS selling locally….?? I’ve used Craigslist many times to buy and sell furniture and have never had a bad experience. You just have to use common sense, for small items like this I would meet in a public place, cash only.

          • Ashlan

By locally I meant by word of mouth to someone I know like a friend or a family member’s friend etc.

    • Amy

I bought 5 over the past few months and sold them to friends for what I paid. Lots of people told me to charge a finder’s fee, but I could never do that! They were easy to sell, I bet you could find a friend or neighbor that would buy it off of you so you don’t need to return it.

      • Ashlan

I’ll ask around and see if anyone in my area wants it. I would feel too bad to return

    • Christine

      Hi Ashlan,

I’m in North Jersey right outside NYC, were you able to find someone interested in the Hatchimals? My cousin has been looking for one for her daughter with no luck. She is interested if you still have it. Please let me know.

      Thanks!

      • K

Christine, do you still need one? I have one I no longer need. Would sell it at cost. Leave your email so I can get back to you.

  9. Maia

What can it do after it hatches?

    • dblD-amber

nothing my kids haven’t touched it since

    • Mindy

At this price I rather get a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0″ Tablet w/ 16GB Memory for $129 and get back $69 in point from Kmart, so for only cost $60 and last a long time.

  10. Joy

I’m kind of glad the owlicorn isn’t a part of this deal… it’s so cute I don’t think I’d be able to resist!

    • Mamarenie

I got the owlicorn as part of the deal. It’s so cute!

  11. Marissa Brown

I wish they would they would do this with Nintendo!

  12. Anna

So I am curious what the hype with these things is all about? Are you paying $50-100 to watch this thing hatch for 20 mins, then I read it’s basically “grown up” in 2 hrs and the kids never touch it again after that. Am I missing something with this hype?

    • LB

I’d like to know too. Every review I’ve seen of these things says it’s fun for a day and then kids lose interest. I just can’t imagine why parents are going crazy trying to find them. The whole thing of “My kid has this on their Christmas list” is just crazy. My kids have a lot of things on their list. They aren’t getting 1/2 of it. Are parents so afraid of disappointing their kids that they have to get every single thing the kid asks for? Is not receiving a Hatchimal but getting a bunch of other toys instead really going to ruin the kid’s Christmas? I think I was about 8 years old the year my grandma got me a hard to find Cabbage Patch Kid. She stood in line for it. Not overnight in the freezing cold. Just got to the store a little early and waited patiently in line to buy it. I’d feel horrible if she paid an obscene amount for it. Or stood outside overnight for it. No toy is worth it.

      • Mel

Interesting, we have taught my child not to ask for tons of things. His list has 4 toys on it so i try very hard to buy those items because i know he doesn’t suffer from the “gimmes”. Thankfully this toy is not one of them. He did ask for one item that sold out in many stores and i was worried I wouldn’t find it. My fault for not planning ahead better. Finally found it at a small rural Walmart. So thankful that i can surprise him.

      • Melanie

My daughter, who is 5, received one from my mom for Christmas. She was in town this past Saturday so we let my daughter open it. She absolutely loves it! She has been playing with it non stop since then. We actually had to change its batteries this afternoon because they died. It really is rather cute and she enjoys “taking care of it” She even made some clothes for it out of paper 😂. My daughter is really into animals (not dolls or princesses) so this really was the perfect gift for her.

        • MommySpendsLess

Even before the hype – when I first saw them in parenting magazines and toy catalogues – I thought my daughter would enjoy it a lot. She’s 7.5yo and an only child. She LOVES stuffed animals and mothers any younger children she comes in contact with. A couple weeks before Thanksgiving I gave my mom a head’s up and asked her not to go out of her way AT ALL but not to walk by one if she happened upon it at regular retail price. My mom got lucky and grabbed one for us. My daughter really wants one but she knows they’re hard to find and “knows” she won’t get one. I’m super excited that she’ll get a present she wants and wasn’t expecting on Christmas.

      • Shea

I so agree with you! When I was little, I don’t remember making out a Christmas list. My parents did their best to find us presents that they thought we would like within their and we were happy. They even bought things 2nd hand that were like new. My friends would talk about how they got the latest toy and I knew I never would but I didn’t feel deprived in the least. Now I’m trying to raise my 3 kids up unspoiled, but it’s very hard in our culture today.

        • Shea

          *within their budget

      • Amanda

My daughter cashed in her piggy bank for one in October. She paid $59 at Walmart. She was mesmerized while it hatched, hasnt touched it since. Even had the nerve to ask for another one for Christmas. I just laughed..

  13. Ellen

My special needs kiddo wants one I have been trying for a month to buy her one! Guess what she’s not getting for her Jan 1st bday? I can’t even add to cart at toys r us it won’t let me 😢

    • Princess

Hi Ellen maybe try again because after reading your comment I was able to add 3 different ones to my cart (for preorder) and I got to the checkout page.

      • Ellen

I have tried all of them lol I’ll keep trying

    • KJ

Try again. It lets me add them to my cart without issue. It may have just been a temporary glitch. Good Luck!

    • Laurie

Good luck, Ellen. I hope you get one:)

  14. Bethany

Lol seriously this kind of toy is nothing new, just reinvented. Remember those magic nursery dolls where all the fun was in finding out what you got? Same deal. There will be tonnes of these at thrift stores within a year.

  15. Maggie

I’ve been to our Toys ‘r Us the last three days and each day they had got shipments of them. They keep them behind the front desk so make sure you ask them if you’re searching for one. (It’s not worth the $79.99 but beats the inflated eBay prices) – We live in a populated area & they still had some at 2p yesterday! They said the shipments have been fairly large.

Keep checking. Because shipments are arriving!

  16. Vicky

If it means anything to anyone, the company that makes the Hatchimals also makes birds, hamsters, and frogs. Now, they don’t hatch but they each do their own different things at a fraction of the price. You can find them at the same place in the stores that you would find a Hatchimal. Hope this helps someone.

  17. dc

Got 2 at target for $95 with the coupon

  18. Ash

Remember the tickle-me-Elmo craze years ago? It’s interesting to see what toys become so popular

    • TRHAM

it was 1996. I was a young mom working at walmart and a manager had a sweet spot for me. He sold me one (we had a few and used then as promos throughout the night) it was the highlight of my sons christmas….honestly though unlike other fads, we loved tickle me for several years, he was even our voicemail message for at least 2 of those years lol. we then had furby’s which remind me of this thing and did nothing really after you got them except make annoying noises

  19. Megan t

Check Toysrus customer service desk if your looking for Hatchimals my mother saw some at the customer service desk and was able to pick one up a few days ago. The cashier said they hold them up at the front so people can’t hide them around the store. I couldn’t believe we got one

  20. April

I wish people wouldn’t buy this mess. It is crazy how they bait people with these toys I have heard the nightmare stories of people trying to get one of these and the price just keeps increasing.
