Amazon Instant Video: Rent Select Movies For ONLY 99¢ (Choose from Over 49,000 Titles)
Looking for inexpensive entertainment this weekend?
You can still head on over to Amazon Instant Video where you can rent any movie from this page (over 49,000 to choose from!) for just $0.99 when you enter promo code MOVIE99 at checkout – limit 1 per person. Once you have rented a movie, you will have 30 days to start watching the video and 24 hours to finish once it’s been started.
In order to apply the discount code, be sure to follow these instructions (please note that this promo does not appear to be geared towards checking out via mobile phone):
After choosing a movie, click on the “More Purchase Options” button found under the Rent or Buy Movie buttons (as shown above), then you’ll click on the “Redeem a gift card or promotion code” button (as shown above), enter the code MOVIE99 and finish checking out.

Great chance to use the free credits I have built up for always picking the slow shipping with Prime!
I also had free credits from slow shipping and was charged the regular price even after the promo code was applied. I don’t think you can combine the promo with a credit.
My husband’s account had $3 of digital credit, and the 99¢ was deducted from that credit after I used the code. I kept getting an error message when I tried the code on my account and figured it would deduct the full rental amount from my digital credit if I tried to continue, so I didn’t.
Thanks! Just got Sully to watch with my husband! I’ve heard GREAT things about it!
Awesome Olivia! I just watched that movie last night – SO GOOD! 😀
I’m trying to use the promo code when ordering on my TV but when I click on “more purchase options”, there isn’t a redeem gift card or code option. Help!!!!
I did it on my computer and then added the movie to my Watchlist and retrieved it that way.
Thanks. It worked!
I found a couple movies that it didn’t work on.
Keep getting this error: “The claim code you entered isn’t working. Please ensure there are no spaces and try again. If this problem continues, please contact Amazon Customer Service at Video Help and refer to error 2039”. *sad*
Hey Jen! When I first tried to apply this code, it did not work in FireFox, but I was successful in Google Chrome. Maybe try switching browsers? I sure hope that helps!
I looked up error code 2039 as I was getting it too. The help page says this: Error Codes: 2039
These errors occur when an Amazon.com Gift Card or promotional code is not valid.
Make sure you’ve entered your Amazon.com Gift Card or promotional code correctly, and that it’s not expired or previously claimed.
Some promotional balances can only be applied to specific items or digital content types, and may not be available to use toward Amazon Video purchases.
Even if you’re paying with a Amazon.com Gift Card or promotional balance, to purchase Amazon Video titles you need a billing address and valid payment method from an eligible location in your 1-Click settings.
For more information, go to How to Pay with a Promotion or Amazon.com Gift Card.
I clicked on the kubo and the 2 strings and there’s no promo code option so I clicked on the $4.99 price thinking I would get a promo code area but nope I just rented it. I did it on the tv.
Is this a new promotion? I did use the movie99 last time you posted about it, and was wondering if I can use it again or if it is only for those who haven’t used it yet. Thanks!
NO, this is not new – just a reminder to use this code for those who have yet to use it!
Thank you!
I keep getting an error code 😔
Hey Rocky – maybe try switching browsers? Hope that helps!
it worked, actually, not having to put in the code, at all. its automatic, that is why it wasn’t taking the first time. I had to call Customer Service.
done via the computer though, not TV.
Thanks got Storks for the kids! It doesn’t show the discount being taken off & I was worried I was going to charged full price but it did only charge .99 cents.
Yay! You’re so welcome!
Getting the same error code listed above. Not working for me. 🙁 Snowy night here in MA. Need a movie. tee hee.
Bummer! Have you been able to try it in a different browser? It is working for me in Chrome!
Not working for me on the computer, either. Chatting with them now.
Worked for me, you need to do it on a browser, not the tv. Rented magnificent 7 but haven’t watched it yet. Hoping it is good.
Magnificent 7 was good…not nearly as good as the original but well worth the time to watch it!
Was not automatic for me. Have to go to “other purchase options” – then I got error code 🙁
Darn! Have you been able to try it in a different browser?
It didn’t work for me yesterday and I chatted with CS and they credited me $5 so it was free…
Thanks! Got Bridget jones baby! Was waiting until next week to redbox it but this is cheaper.
You’re welcome Cassie!
Worked great for me via computer browser (firefox). I followed the directions on the main page and in addition to using the promo code it also applied a $1 credit I had for digital orders, so it was free 🙂 Rented: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Thank you!
Great buy! You are SO welcome! 🙂
Thanks for the tip! Snowed in tonight and watching “Nine Lives” with my 12 & 9 year olds….perfect and CHEAP night!
Awesome! You’re welcome!
Thank you so much! My children got to watch Storks tonight for .99c! They were happy and so appreciative of Hip2Save! (Love Mom’s “coupon lady”!! ) Thx you for make family movie night affordable.
Aww, how sweet! You are most welcome! 🙂
Didn’t work when I purchased it on the amazon app through my samsung player. Disappointing.
FYI…I was having a hard time making the code work, so I contacted Amazon chat support and they gave me a $5 account credit to take the rental price down to $.99. So, don’t give up if it’s not working for you!
Thank you! It worked on my computer, I was able to rent Miss Peregrine’s Home for peculiar children just now!
