As I posted yesterday, many Michaels stores across the country are offering up $4 Grab Bags and/or Boxes! If you have an extra $4 in your budget and are willing to take a gamble (as sometimes these boxes can be filled with what some may consider junk!), then it may be worth your time and money to head to your local store!

Check out this email & picture from Hip2Save reader, Kate…

Just stopped at Michaels and they had grab bags for $4! One bag had $197 worth of toys and decorations. Multiple K’nex sets worth $25 alone!!

What did other readers score? Check out these comments!

I got three boxes and they are awesome! 16 adult coloring books, tons of Christmas ribbon and I think 7 boxes of Christmas cards!

I was able to get the last bag left at my store. Yes, some junk, but I ended up keeping 2/3 of the bag & just dropped the rest off at Goodwill. Well worth the $4, thank you!

Thank you so much for posting Collin! I picked up two mystery boxes! Both of my boxes contained large K’nex building sets for boys and girls and pokemon shirts and adult coloring books! For fun, I looked up the value on the K’nex sets and both are listed on Amazon for $24.55! I was super excited to get these, as I will be saving these for my son and daughters birthdays!

I picked up some bags today and lucked out that I got a 7 ft prelight tree for $4. Also had some wreaths and garland that were like $60 each in groups of 2 or 3 for $4 as well!

Spent $12 on 3 bags….total value of items $352. 11 boxes of xmas cards, 6 ribbons, 6 cat toys, 3 watches, santa headband, 3 cups/mug, 7 wood ornament/sticks, 3 Pkg tags, 2 ornaments, bag of Mickey buttons, 2 sticker bags, 1 Journaling card & sticker Pkg, 8 wax stick kits=1 happy girl. More than I was hoping for. Thanks Collin for the heads up!

Mine had 30 Christmas hats. I’ll save them and break them out for Christmas parties.

      Lol!

  2. Melloddie

So jealous, wish I had a Michael’s close by!!! Glad to see at least other hipsters here are able to snag some 🙂

Our bag had just odds and ends of random small things. One good thing was a mug. All of the bags on the shelves were in white bags and were semi easy to see in. They all had the same stuff. Random doodads. Lots of wide floral ribbon filled most of the bags.

Were these just being offered in stores today only?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi there! It can vary due to inventory as to how long each store may have them available. Hope this helps!

      • kaylan

Yes, it does! Thanks for responding. Going to cross my fingers and check my store tomorrow! 🙂

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          You’re welcome Kaylan! Happy shopping!

    • kerri

Great deal. But originally $80.00 ?! It had better be a laundry basket with a maid attached to it for $80.00 !!! Lolol

      • A.Rich

        Ha ha really!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Wow! Great score!

  7. Jenni

I just bought two bags that had 7x adult coloring books in them each. I bought them to use as a party favor for my 5 year old’s birthday party. She loves coloring in them!

  8. Pam

My store stopped doing these several cycles ago 🙁

  9. Lee

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

One store on Long Island had 4 boxes. Most filled with Christmas odds and ends- scrap book paper, letters, lots of tinsel garland. Not really worth it. ( I peeked and got yelled at- they were very light!)

  11. Nina

The store near me had them n i scored the 3 rustic candle set originally for 59$ and the tin snowman with lights for 30$ in 1 bag and about 20 small craft paper pads n 10 craft tapes in the other, so great deal. However the other bags seemed to be filled with just doo dads and candy n u can’t peek to be certain so just left it alone

I got one! Had a ton of scrapbooking pumpkins, turkeys, and more then a conocopia thing for thanksgiving that had a $80 price tag on it then a 365 day journal which has extra pages and fun stuff included, hair tyes, note cards, literally around $500 worth of stuff! Amazing I was tempted to buy 2 but couldn’t fit it in my car because I also found 10 wire baskets that were with the 40% off but rang up 90% off. Look for the inspired style red tag!

I’m so excited I saw an earlier post and stopped by my local store, I got one box that came with 2 Santa belly cookie jars & another box with 2 cookie jars in the shape of Trucks with Xmas trees, each ceramic container valued at total value $160, only paid $8!!

    • Emily

      Wow, that’s awesome!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! Happy you could snag such great items!

I’ve been to 3 stores, they all had $4 grab bags! So much fun! I got several bags with all kinds of fun stuff! They were double baged but you could sorta see thru them. Mostly Christmas items, nice wire ribbon (marked 5.99-12.99), ornaments (some very nice sets, some $1.50 bin ones), initials, floral picks, Christmas cards, note cards, lots of the $1.50 bin paper craft stuff, some troll movie brand stuff (hair color set, glitter pen book set), day of the dead adult coloring book, coffee mug with rubber top (12.99), 3D Structure craft sets (star & village sets), giant marshmallow sheets (food crafts), Wilton Gingerbread sprinkles, lots paper straws, “sophisticated and sparkle” trinket tray (9.99), Santa headband (9.99), cat toy, wooden signs (pet themed), fabric stencils, rubber stamp, 2 hot glue guns, scented glue sticks, glitter glue sicks, elf themed wicker basket (9.99), 7pc glittery miniature trees (marked 24.99), chocolate coin making mold set (9.99).

FYI: 1 store had grab bags in 3 spots around the store. Others had regular clearance all over the store.

One store had the k’nex sets still on the shelf. I scanned them and they all rang up 90% off. I got 39.99 sets for 3.99! Small sets; plane, helicopter, and truck were 9.99, I paid .99! They also had the ones for girls, 14.99 i paid 1.49! Larger one 29.99, paid 2.99, 19.99 paid 1.99! I’m saving these for v-day! Awesome deals!

I also saw clearance scrapbook paper value packs, books and paper holders 70% off. They seamed like a good deal.

Thanks for the heads up on the grab bags hip 2 save! I missed them last year so I was excited to get some this year!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for sharing your finds Emily! You’re very welcome!

  15. Lindsay

I always get so excited for these! Our store had them and I bought 4. Mainly Christmas junk i am giving to goodwill and about 300 containers of those pine scent things for the Christmas tree. O well it’s still fun and exciting to see what is inside!

  16. couponer

You can’t really trust the stickered price at stores like Michaels. They give out so many coupons just assume the real price is 40% off the sticker at minimum. Same goes for Bed Bath & Beyond.

  17. Raedev

We have a hobby lobby but no Michael’s 🙁 I would def. Take advantage of this deal if so.

  18. Lori

I bought 4! I’m waiting for my grandkids to come over as they love opening these! Thanks for the heads up!

  19. Mary Beth

Where are these normally located at in the store? I can never find these

    • Happymama

My store had them in the center like seasonal stuff would be. I only got one. It contained two large twig wreaths that were really pretty gold w/ glitter and all the fixings to make the wreaths! I’m not a big crafter, but the fixings were unique colors (pink, purple and lime green). I can’t wait to make these with my daughter! 🙂

  20. V

Found these up by the cashiers. I got two Christmas tree pans, pine scent wax melts, a bunch of interesting ornaments, and a few other odds and ends. My five year old had so much fun opening the box and we had to add up the original suggested retail.

Have they went down this year yet?
