I couldn’t stand all the noise from the balls tumbling around in the dryer.
I think they do help with making clothes dry faster, but static cling, not so much. Was told perhaps drying too long. Add a safety pin to the ball, etc.
I agree about static. Especially in the winter. Was thinking maybe mine were getting old, and new ones would help?

The static is definitely from drying too long. I can dry most of my loads on a short cycle. Close to 30ish minutes.
Has anyone actually tried the safety pin thing and had it work? The static cling is so horrible that I have to use dryer sheets with the wool balls and I haven’t noticed a decrease in drying time either!

We’ve been using them for a couple of years now. I agree that the static cling is an issue. However, clothes do dry faster. We add essential oils to a couple of balls. The clothes smell so fresh. Our dog loves to hang around the dryer in hopes that he can grab a runaway ball. He doesn’t chew on them. Just likes to take them and “bury” it under his bed.

I recently started using these and I was shocked at the amount of drying time it saved!!! I haven’t noticed an issue with static.
These are okay in the dryer but the problem is when you take the clothes out and the balls roll away from you. I had to play hide and seek every time and after a year I was done with the dryer balls. Not worth the hassle for the small boost you get with dryer time.
I keep mine in a small mesh bag to prevent that.
I have a efficient dryer and I notice no help in the dry time. I also notice the static electricity is WAYYYY worse than using nothing at all. My husband begged me to throw them away and I finally did.

Agree 100%! No help in drying time for me, pretty noisy and static cling is HORRENDOUS!!!! 😬 way worse than nothing at all. Its not drying too long either cause most if the time I still have a few damp items!
I have to agree with the people who said they don’t care for the wool balls. I tried them for about 6 months in order to fairly assess them. The static cling was a nightmare and I never noticed a reduction in drying time. My hubby once dried a load of towels without the balls and used a dryer sheet instead and I could not believe how soft our towels felt! I immediately threw the wool balls out. It sounds like they do work for some people though, so it might be worth trying if you haven’t already.
Amazon had a lighting deal on these a few months back and I purchased them. I found they most definitely help with the drying time. I am still experimenting with how much drying time it saves. We have a gas dryer and I have been able to decrease the drying time from 50 to 40 minutes – that only was an investment worth! I am sure for some items the drying time can be decreased even more.
The other item I find the dryer balls super with, are our duvet covers. My husband and I each have a king size down comforter with a corresponding duvet cover. Using the dryer balls has significantly decreased the drying time for them and also helped with them not getting all tangled in the dryer.
In regards to losing the dryer balls when pulling the laundry out of the dryer, I recommend putting a laundry basket right in front of the dryer. This way everything lands in one bin and when you are done folding or pulling out the laundry, all the balls are either still in the dryer or in the laundry basket.
Anita, have you noticed the static cling issue?
I have noticed it if I overdry the laundry. I thought it helped decrease the static. Was it completely gone? No, but it is significantly decreased. I also have to say that the air/humidity on the east coast in PA was very very dry this winter.
