I’m a little confused about why people are asking for a gift card in exchange? If people had to pay via GC … Then the 40% may not be a value to them. They might atas well just use the 30% off.

That’s nice of you. Not sure why people just can’t be kind like you. I would do the same if I had one and didn’t need it.
10% makes a difference when you are making a big purchase. Say if you are buying something for 200 USD. With 30% total is 140 while with 40% the total is 120. Plus difference in taxes. So if you give away a $5 giftcard (that you may now need) you still save $15 +difference in taxes.
