Has anyone tried the cloud pet? I saw a lot of negative reviews online.
I bought 3 when they were $5 and they were VERY challenging to setup initially but after you get the set up figured out I haven’t had any problem with ours. We have 3 nieces about 300 miles away and they love them. I was really surprised at the volume and quality of the recording, It’s excellent .
Cloudpet company was hacked recently. There was a potential leak of data, including email addresses, passwords and recorded messages, some hackers even claiming they could turn them on remotely. I took the batteries out of my daughter’s, but I never got it to work properly so I’m not too worried about the hacking. I would recommend against activating it if you purchase one.
CloudPets sent us an email. Almost nothing was taken and no recordings were stolen. Please read the email they sent.
I did read the email. I said potential. It means the possibility is there, despite what the company claimed. Everyone should be aware of the past and possible downside of this product. What you choose to do after that is your own business.

Their entire database was available online, including e-mails, passwords, recordings, and other personal data established on the accounts. It was on a unencrypted database that didn’t require a password to get the data. In other words, they can send e-mails to their customers stating that it was likely not taken, but professionals in information security are aware that all of their customer data was available without even requiring a password to access. It is likely that many individuals on the dark web downloaded the entire database.
As a professional in information security, I do not recommend anyone purchase these items for their children until the company can respond to the information security community to answer why their database still remains unsecured.

My kids got them for Christmas. They were a pain to set up & never did consistently work properly. They were quickly tossed aside. It’s a neat concept but just never worked well for us.
We got two for Christmas. Setup is a pain but my kids LOVE their messages from Nana and Pops. No problems at all.
It was very easy for me to set up and use. My kids loved it. We used it daily in December. It left a message for my kids giving them a daily task to show kindness to others. It was super easy and fun for my family.
I read the negative reviews before buying, but had absolutely none of the issues any of the negative reviews stated.
I am considering buying more so each of my siblings and my parents have one and we can send messages from each other and our kids back and forth.

Just a heads up guys…I watched a news story on these CloudPets. Apparently they are very easily hacked and any information stored or sent can be(and was) accessed. I can’t remember the specifics but I know CloudPets was storing all the sent/received info on a server that had no security. And you’re able to hack into the pet and access the microphone…There were apparently cases of children reporting that someone was talking to them through the pets! To top it off…this uses your wifi…anything that’s easily hacked doesn’t need access to your wifi connection….I don’t even need to explain why that’s bad…
