I have this mixer. It’s been great! A little different than the regular kitchenaid where the beater lowers into the bowl.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the review! Happy to hear how pleased you have been with this one!

  2. Leanne

I would like to hear several reviews on this mixer. Not sure I would like the bowl-lift feature. But my regular kitchenaid mixer is having a “wobbly head” problem. Have tried so many times to adjust it but nothing helps. The beaters also hit the bottom of the bowl.

    • minimalistgal

Leanne, I am having that exact problem with my green Kitchenaid Artisan! My husband has adjusted that know many times and it scrapes the bottom too hard. I really hate that for the money paid!
I am not sure if I should buy this either to replace mine. Hmm.

      • GypCD

Same issue here with wobbly head. Happens moreso when I’m trying to mix a thick batter.

      • minimalistgal

I ended up buying this today. I have the Artisan and am interested in the lift bowl feature. I can sell mine – like new/used and get at least $100. So half the upgrade price is paid.
Called Kitchenaid about the Artisan problem I mentioned above, they said to adjust the screw adjustment, I did that already, problem continues.

    • vmm

I love the bowl lift feature on ours and the metal vs plastic parts!

    • momof7

My mother in law says hers shakes and my sister in laws is awful about it. I would first call kitchen aid. My big mixer like this does not do that! I think because there is no hinged joint.

    • Stephanie

Call kitchenaid! They have great customer service!

    • Cathy Vernham

The lift bowl units are better built then the Artisan. The reason the bowl has to lift is because the metal gears are to heavy to be used in a head lift. Because of the lift bowl, the unit is about 3 inches taller then the lift head.
The bowl lift has a larger bowl 5 q over 4.5q. it is a more powerful mixer 450w over 325w. metal gears over plastic gears.
I have had the professional plus for over 7 years, my daughter has had the 500 for 3 years. I used it at least once a week as does my daughter. It’s used daily the week of holidays and we mix double and triple batches of cookies at Christmas. Most bakers I know have 2 or more professionals and one Artisan (because some batter needs lower speed.)
I’ve never had a problem over beating with my professional.
My personal option is; the Artisan’s are a lower quality mixer that is made for people who want a trendy colorful stand mixer to display on their counter top. While the Professional and 500 are high quality mixers that are built for the weekend baker.

      • Allison

Cathy’s review is spot-on! I used to work at Kitchenaid (customer service/tech support) and she has a wonderful grasp of the situation. The “lift bowl” mixers are a MUCH better quality than the others. Plus, they’re easier to clean. The one in my kitchen is 27 years old (my mom swapped hers for mine because she wanted cream instead of white) and going strong!

        • Jennifer

Ooh, y’all are making this deal oh so tempting! Gosh I really hate 1 day deals BTW…I’m unemployed, so I need more than 1 or 2 days notice.

    • steph

I’ve had the professional series for over 10 years. I love mine. I have never had a problem with it..unless you count the times I had to lift the mixer to move it. We got our kitchen remodeled and now there is no more moving the mixer. Love, love, love.

  3. Hmaymay

I own this and really like the bowl lift feature. I believe it will last a lot longer. If I remember my research, this mixer also has metal internal parts which will last longer as well as more power than the Artisan. I love the handle on the bowl as well – I use it every time! The only negative (not for me, but maybe for others) is that this model is bigger and taller than the Artisan and a little heavier too.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for your helpful review! Good to know!

  4. Rebecca

I want to get a Kitchen Aid mixer for a wedding gift for my sister-in-law. The couple registered for a 4.5 quart Classic. This seems to be a wonderful upgrade at a great price. Decisions, decisions!

    • Ashley

I would go fit it, who would be disappointed with a nicer kitchenaid?!?!?

  5. Ashley

Just bought this for a wedding shower next month, this is going to be the perfect gift!! Thank you so much for posting!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Such a great gift! You’re so welcome!

  6. Kathryn

Omgosh someone tell me nooooo! Furnishing a new house/kitchen and just put over 2k on my Best Buy card. I need someone to slap my hand. This isn’t a necessity, this isn’t a necessity, this isn’t a necessity!

    • Ashley

Kathryn, not to be an enabler… but if you don’t have a kitchenaid, it is a necessity at this price. ๐Ÿ˜‰ lol. I have had mine for almost 10 years, it has been the best small appliance we have ever had!

      • momof7

Its amazing if you have a big family. Small batches…meh.
        Great price.
Its not an immediate need and they do go on sale, especially at Kohls. But this is the priceof the cheaper small ones.

    • Workaholic

Honestly, once you get it, it is a necessity. The time you save and the perfect results. Wouldn’t go back to my life without it. I recently got the spiralizer for my kitchenaid, best decision ever. Dynamic duos ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. momof7

I have this. I really like it a lot because it’s powerful. Not great for regular batches of cookies and such. Great for double and triple, etc. I have a hard time scraping the bowl because you have to take the paddle off in order to get to the bowl.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome! Thanks for the feedback!

  8. Princess

I got this in red awhile back from an awesome deal Collin posted and I love it. I always wanted a kitchen aid mixer and decided to get it as a Christmas present for myself. I truly love it and it makes baking a whole lot easier, and the bowl lift feature comes in handy. It’s a lot heavier than I was expecting therefore I keep it on the counter (plus it matches my color scheme).

  9. K

I use my mixer for EVERYTHING! Cookies, bread dough, whipped cream, meatloaf. I could go on and on. I have the pasta maker attachment, shredder/slicer attachment, and spiralizer attachment. I love them all. We have apple trees so the spiralizer is amazing for slicing/peeling apples to freeze. Makes a tedious chore almost fun ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! Good to know how useful it has been for you! Thanks for sharing!

  10. Jackie

I just bought a black one. I can’t wait to get it. I purchased the $30 2 year geek squad warranty, just in case. Thanks Colin

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Jackie!

  11. Marcia

Today only so til midnight correct? I am at work and can’t order til I get home….

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yes through today ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Cathy

I purchased this model at Target back before Christmas when an awesome deal was posted. It was $168 after tax. I had a regular model for 24 years but the bowl needed replaced so I treated myself to this one in red – it’s a very pretty color! It is much larger than my other one so I wasn’t sure about it on the counter but with it having the lift feature, it works out just fine. I like the larger bowl, especially adding ingredients like flour. It has taken me a bit to learn how to put the bowl on but I feel it’s much more secure then just locking the bowl in place in my older one. I think this price is amazing for the size and how long these last.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! Thanks for the great review Cathy!

  13. Amber

I recommend this buying guide, though it appears to have changed, since I bought my mom’s. We decided on the Pro 600 for a little over $200 on ebay refurbished, because it has a 500 to 550 watt motor, which the guide said was good for doing bread dough often. She has been happy with it and I think it was well worth the extra money!

  14. Suzanne

I’ve had mine for 12 years now, though I’m not sure if it was the model 500 or something different back then. I had the classic prior to that, and this one was a great step up. It’s a little noisy, but otherwise I have no complaints. The lift up feature is great to let the mix drip off the beaters. I have used mine A LOT, and it is still going strong. It’s a great investment if you spend any time in the kitchen.

  15. Nikki

Boy, I have mixed feelings about this mixer. I make double batches of bread for my family on a regular basis. I started out with a kitchen-aid “regular” mixer for ten years and purchased this pro mixer st this price (a steal) about two years ago because it was a necessity when I make larger batches of bread. I love kitchen aid mixers but with bread I really have to work to scrape the bottom of the bowl every so often…..more often than I feel I should for a “pro mixer”. I remember reading about this problem on Amazon and ignored it because of my love for kitchen Aid products. I heard a friend talk about her mixer (can’t remember the brand), but she is also an avid bread maker. And she doesn’t seem to have this problem. Am pretty sure I am working harder than she is to make sure my bread is mixed properly……even thinking about looking into a different mixer…..take it for what it’s worth. I do agree that a good mixer is a staple if you plan on cooking regularly! ๐Ÿ˜€ This mixer is a bit noisy but it doesn’t bother me! Also love the bowl lift!

    • Workaholic

Have you tried a different mixer paddle? The one with the silicone? I’m just curious if you have and what we’re your results. I’m thinking of getting a paddle because I also dislike scraping the sides.

      • Nikki

        GREAT SUGGESTION! I’m on it!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€

  16. Lauren

That is a terrific deal!!! I have had mine for over 20 years and swear I will be buried with this Kitchen Aide Mixer and my Bernina sewing machine lol

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Lol! Good to know how well yours has held up through the years Lauren! Thanks for sharing!

  17. Allison

You know, no one has mentioned the very obvious problem with this mixer. Sometimes you’ll find yourself standing in the kitchen just petting it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Lol! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Amy

      Omg!!! Too funny!!!! Lol

  18. Leanne

Thanks for all the reviews! I’ll prob kick myself someday but I’m gonna pass on this great deal this time. I don’t use my mixer on a regular basis and hate the idea of a bigger, heavier one sitting on my counter.

  19. Alikia29

This model is soooo much better than the smaller head tilt versions.

  20. Pat Kleinmaier

Have had this mixer for 33 years. Still works great.

  21. Jenny

I have the pro version and it leaks oil all over the place. Anyone have this issue?
