Love this thermostat! I bought it for this price for Black Friday two years ago and it’s very handy. I can control it from my phone and customize the settings how I want. I installed it myself and I’m no pro at DIY projects. Also, it sends me a monthly email telling me how many leaves I’ve collected for using my thermostat economically. Totally worth it in my opinion.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! Great to hear how much you have liked this thermostat Ashley! Good to know you could install it yourself!

  2. Jill

Yes! We are building a house and my husband really wants this thermostat. I’ve been waiting for it to go on sale. I’m going to grab one!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh perfect! How exciting Jill! Happy you can score this deal!

  3. Caitlin

Love our nest!!! Really helps keep our bills down!! One of my favorite features is how it uses your phone’s GPS to tell if you are home or away and adjusts the temperature accordingly!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Thanks for the feedback Caitlin! Awesome to hear this has helped you save!

    • Steph

Does this thermostat make a clicking noise when it adjusts? (I think it’s called a relay) Our is soooo loud that it wakes me up! I’ve been searching for something more quiet.

      • rebecca

you can adjust it with your phone. if you had your phone on silent, you shouldn’t hear a thing.
if you are standing at the actual physical thermostat, you hear a small clicking as you turn the dial to adjust, even though it is an all-digital display.

      • StephB

In setting you should be just shut off the noise

  4. Ashley

I just got a free one from the electric company, it is awesome!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      What a great score Ashley!

  5. Meshiat

Make sure to use ebates and check with your electric company because most offer rebates for having this. I purchased mine almost 1 month ago from Lowes paid $214 received $6 back from ebates and got a $75 rebate from my electric company. I will continue to receive $25/year rebate for using the nest. It pays for itself. I’m on vacation now and my air has been off for 3 weeks now and I’ll turn it on 2 days prior to us returning to cool it down. Def saving me money since I live in Phoenix, AZ where it’s 115°+ right now.

Also very easy to install. I did mine by myself with youtube and it only took about 45 minutes. And I’m not a professional….this was the first time installing something with wires. Next will be my ring doorbell once I’m back home.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome to hear you have been able to snag such great savings with your Nest Thermostat! Thanks for sharing your experience!

    • rebecca

we got our first Nest when we lived in AZ, too, and it literally paid for itself in 3 months. our bill went down $60 per month after the first month having it.

    • Nest user

      Hi Meshiat,

Thanks for sharing all the details..
Quick question:- how were you able to receive $25 per year on NEST? please advise.
      Thanks

  6. Katie

I bought one the last deal you posted from Kohls. It was $219 with $40 kohls cash back then in Oregon I’ve received $75 in rebates so far. We love how it switches to away mode if you don’t walk past it for a certain period of time and how easy it is to change when you are away. Definitely would recommend one!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet! Thanks for sharing Katie!

  7. zelenenki

    Any rebates in California?

  8. Hazzy

I don’t understand how it saves you money I control my therm at home and don’t need to control it when I’m not home.

    • rebecca

but some people do need to control theirs when they aren’t at home. for example if you live in Tucson and go out of town for 10 days, your house would be 125 degrees when you get back to town. you might not want to leave your AC on the whole time you are away, but you’d want to use your phone to tell your house to start cooling down when you are on your way back home.
or if you work 8 hours, 5 days a week, you might like your thermostat to go to 83 degrees after you leave the house, then start cooling down to your preferred setting before you get home at night.
this is “smart,” it’s a learning thermostat. it adjusts according to your habits, although it can always be adjusted or overridden as you need.
by using an away temperature when you leave the house, it saves money. not everyone can remember to constantly adjust their thermostat when they come and go.
if you live where the climate is very mild, and stays a comfortable temperature outside most days the year, and you rarely leave the house for longer than an hour at a time, this may not be for you.

We love our nest! In fact, my hubs wants to get another one so this deal is perfect.

By the way, it looks like the Amazon deal is gone so it’s showing $235 now.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the heads up! I am seeing that now as well.

  10. Denise G.

Ahhhh we have this on our wish list for our new home but we don’t close escrow until 7/12 and I see the sale ends at Lowes on 7/9. We aren’t supposed to make large purchases.

    • jen

Usually they mean a car or something really expensive, not $200. Hope you can take advantage of the deal 🙂 just ask your lender if you’re concerned.

      • Denise G.

Asked them today if we could buy a deal for vent cleaning for $260 ahead of time to be ready for when we close and he said we shouldn’t, so I don’t think it’s worth risking.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the helpful tip!

  11. Adrianne

We love our nest too!!! So nice to be able to control from your phone if you forgot to turn off the hear/ac.

  12. Kristyn

We save SO MUCH MONEY on our electric bill with this bad boy! We live in the south, and (normally) have our home AC set to 68 24/7. This guy pops out AC up to 78 when we leave the house, and cools it back to 68 before we come home. Our average electric bill is $60 a month!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great to hear how low your electric bill is! Thanks for the feedback Kristyn!

    • Jessica

Holy cow. I wish our bill was the same. We leave ours at about 75 here in Mississippi.

      • Laura

I live in Michigan. I keep mine at 78 – and 75 T night. I would freeze at 68. I don’t have the nest. I don’t think I’d like it.it adjusts off your GPS on your phone? What if other family members are home?

        • rebecca

it also has sensors, and can tell if anyone is home or not.
plus, if someone is home and wants a different temperature, it also adjusts just like a normal thermostat and they can turn the dial however they like it.
this is smart, and will only save you money. if you go to work the same time every day, and it also senses that no one is home during that time, there is no reason that it should stay at 78 all day. it learns your habits and will turn off or to a higher “away” setting while you are gone, then cool the house down again before you return home.

  13. EB

Thank you for sharing this. I just purchased one from Bed Bath & Beyond with their 20% off 1 Item code my total was $171.19 shipped! Thanks again!

    • Megan

Oh wow thanks for the tip! That worked for me too.

      • Lavishcat

My coupon says it excludes Nest. Will they accept it in store or is there a special coupon that doesn’t have this excluded?

        • Austinembers

I bought mine online snd signed upmfor the 20% off first timer email. It worked for me.

          • Sona

Mine did not work either.. how did you get 20% off to apply?

    • Alexa

Coupon didn’t work for me either 🙁

  14. Kay

We love our nest too! The house we just moved into has one. We live in a 2 story in Houston and our bill hasn’t been over $115 so far this spring, which is a miracle for us. Husband works from home and I’m a sahm, but it still keeps our bill down because we’re out of town quite a bit.

  15. Caroline

I installed the nest myself and set it up with my Alexa so I can say, “Alexa, change thermostat to 75 degrees.” Here’s my step-by-step install video – https://youtu.be/604O9ZQmeB0

  16. Becca

Home Depot has this deal now too. I had a HD gift card through AmEx & was hoping they’d drop the price. It’s online only though & not in store.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Cool find! Thanks for the heads up Becca!
