The recipe as is yields a cookie that’s not meant to be super sweet. It’s more of a baked oatmeal consistency. If it’s not sweet enough for your taste, simply add a little honey, brown sugar, or sweetener of choice before baking.
My family is crazy for anything oatmeal related and these are perfect to grab for a quick and satisfying breakfast.
I like them re-heated a little with coffee or a glass of milk. YUM!

Sounds delish!! I’ve been craving oatmeal raisin cookies. Will need to try this recipe out. Sounds super easy.
can be frozen?
Yes I’m sure you can in an airtight container. Have not tried yet 😀
This is the dish that made me discover my daughter’s peanut allergies. I was holding her when she was a few months old , took a bite of the cookie, had some crumbs fall down. Didn’t think much of it until diaper changing time. Apparently a crumb fell into her onesie…when i lifted her shirt to change her diaper, she was all red and hive-y. 👎 she’s almost 3 and haven’t made these ever since.
I too have a little one with peanut allergy so I plan to try making them with sun butter so he can have them too!! Really needed some healthy breakfast ideas so Thanks Lina for the recipe!
Sure! And yes definitely can change and omit nuts to accommodate 😀 Enjoy!
I made these last year when the recipe was floating around. They were gross! I hate wasting food but they went in the trash.
Oh darn – thanks for sharing 👍
They are delicious if you enjoy the taste of healthier snacks and treats.
These are literally in the oven as I type this… Finger crossed 🙂
Thank you for all the great portable/packable recipes lately! I am going to be SO prepared for school lunches and grab and go breakfasts this year!!!
I added some craisins, chia seeds and two fun size packs of m&ms and they taste satisfying and really good. Just had my four year old taste and he says it’s yummy👍👍
That’s so great! Thanks Liz 👍🏻
Skipped peanut butter, added raisins and some m&ms. My older kiddo liked it and younger one didn’t but it’s because my younger one doesn’t like oatmeal yet. I really liked it and was soooo simple to make. Thx so much!
Oh I’m glad! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
What did you use in place of peanut butter?
Could and when could I add some honey?? Yummmmo!!
Yes I’d add it with the oatmeal and banana mixture 👍
Just made these about an hour ago with just the oats, banana and natural pb to see what they were like. My 8 yr old said they were nasty and would not take a 2nd bite. I ate 2 so far lol and liked them because I am a clean eater and used to healthy non sweet things but no one would eat these but me in my house. I’m sure if I added m&ms or something it would change that but then they are no longer healthy. So yes if you don’t enjoy healthy food it won’t work for you…now on to #3! Lol
Much rather use the bananas to make ice cream…now that’s yummy!
Good idea!
Ya definitely adjust to taste 😀
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts Tricka!
My kiddos start back to school in a couple weeks and these look like they’d be great for them to eat on the way to school!
Can I use steel cut oats?
