I tried the ding dong ice cream sandwiches… they’re kind of gross. I thought they would be like a chocolate covered ice cream sandwich but they have a weird tasting cookie in them that throws the flavor off. It took a month for us to finish off the box of five which is unheard of in this house!

I agree. I bought the dingdong ones also because my mother and father just absolutely go crazy over regular dingdong’s. And they both said it really don’t taste like a dingdong. Lol. But I’m interested to try the other ones because I do like hostess a lot. So we’ll see.

      Bummer! Thanks for sharing Carole!

Same here. I tried the ding dog ice cream sandwiches. The exterior “cookie or cake” part is more like a thin thick cookie, not like ding dog chocolate cake. The covering of chocolate also doesn’t taste like chocolate. And the filling I thought would be vanilla ice cream and it wasn’t. It tasted like a horrible version of whipped cream. It was awful! So I don’t even want to try the ice cream, and see that go in the trash.

      and I LOVE ding dongs

Kind of embarrassed to admit tried all 3 ice creams over Fourth of July weekend. In my defense they were on sale.. I liked them. They are very sweet. The ice cream has the light texture, not dense. The snowball was good for coconut lovers. Twinkie had a kind of Twinkie flavor. Chocolate was very chocolate. I would buy again if good sale , but nothing so special to buy full price.

Cool! Glad to hear you enjoyed them! Thanks so much for your feedback!

I am so glad someone else didnt like the ding dongs. I love ice cream and thought it was a brillant idea. I took one bite and spit it out. I was so sad ๐Ÿ™

We tried the twinkies ice cream and thought it was awful. None of us finished our bowl and I threw the container in the garbage.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Thanks for the honest review Steph!

I thought the cupcake one was delicious!! ๐Ÿ˜‹

Served them for my sons birthday party as part of the sundae bar, they are really sweet and I agree the ding dongs are not good.

I tried the Twinkie ice cream a few month back. I really didn’t like it. One night my family and I had BBQ hamburgers and my kids wanted milkshakes. The only ice cream we had was the twinkie ice cream. We blended it up into milkshakes and it really tasted good. I was very surprised, but with that being said i probably still wouldn’t buy the ice cream again.

  8. Moria

I tried the Ding Dong ice cream sandwiches and didn’t like. I also tried the Twinkie Drumsticks and I really liked them.

We wanted to eat healthier as well as support local businesses and farms. So for 30 days we only ate and shopped local and bought little to no processed food. Two years later we are still living that lifestyle. I have lost 50lbs and feel as though I’ve really contributed to my community as well as feeling better. Anyways, I wouldn’t have tried this even at the height of my junk food consuming days.

Wow! That’s awesome! Guessing by your name, we live in the same corner of the country (lol, any one of four states) so that makes it sound doable for my family as well.

Ding dong was good, Twinkie was gross. Very artificial tasting, not like a Twinkie, more that fake gross maple flavor if anything

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the honest review Adam!

Wow nice for all the feedback I will save my money and not even try them. I tried the fried twinkies that came out last year and they where so gross.

  12. Bologna

Ben & Jerry Brownie icecream bar slices are soooo good ! JS

  13. Michelle

I have tried the Twinkie ice cream and it was pretty good. Really sweet with bits of twinkie added in. Would probably taste great as a topping or mixed with some regular or plain ice cream because it is really sweet by itself.

I’ve only tried the cupcake since i’m not a fan of twinkies or coconut flakes but I love the cupcakes it’s my new favorite ice cream, well while it last anyway,it’s not very expensive where I live only $4 but it’s usually gone in a day, lol,it’s also only at my DG store,i haven’t seen the ding dong ones but with the reviews on that I think i’ll stay away if I do,lol
