I have a set similar to this one. I’ve used them for 2 years straight. I highly recommend them. TIP: I keep all 6 of mine in a lingerie bag so they are easier to find after the dryer stops.

I agree, plus with a few drops of your favorite essential oils, your laundry smells fresh!

      Thanks for the helpful tip!

I’ve made these after reading in the comment section of one of these deals a while back and it didn’t work for me. It made the dryer runs longer and it just didn’t stop. Wonder if the material I used (Patons Classic Wool Yarn) could be the case. Anyone?

I love felted wool balls . I’ve been using them for a while now in order to reduce the amount of chemicals we are exposed too. They work well to soften and reduce static. However they need to be able to move freely around to get the full benefit of softening the clothes. The pounding of the balls against the fabric is what helps soften the clothes. Loosens the fibers in the material. Additionally they are much more cost efficient than single use dryer sheets and far more safe. They reduce drying time by absorbing the moisture also so you save energy. Just realize they don’t soften as much as chemical dryer sheets or liquid softners. However, my children’s health is far more important than silky soft clothing.

Thanks so much for your feedback Cori!

Hue I’ve yet to know anyone who’s had success with homemade felted balls . From my friends complaints, they either had drying issues or issues with the balls coming apart. I didn’t try to make mine I just bought them from amazon. I bought “little lamb organic” brand . I’ve used the same 12 balls for approximately 1.5 yrs and they are in great condition still. I average at least one load of laundry a day and depending on the size I use 6-12 balls . It seemed by the time I would have purchased the supplies for 12 balls and the time invested to make them it would have cost me more than purchasing them . So I opted to purchase and I couldn’t be happier .

Thanks. I got excited about making them after reading all those people success.

This might be a dumb question but do you put just one in with a load or a few?

    • Cori

The more use the better results you’ll get . At minimum I’d use 6. You want them bouncing around hitting the fabric softening the fibers. And they absorb moisture from your clothing so your clothes dry faster so one ball just won’t do it.

I bought these over a year ago on Amazon and love them. I use 3 at a time, and they barely look worn. I use a few drops of Purify or lavender Doterra oil on them sometimes too. Sometimes they get wrapped up in clothes so if you do back to back loads, having the 6 is helpful. You’ll find them once you fold the other load.

Good to know they have worked well for you Sarah! Thanks for sharing!

I have two laundry rooms in my house (decision of a previous owner, but it’s kinda awesome) so I ordered two sets of these. Theres a promotion that saves you 20% off your second set that comes off automatically, no code needed. So I got two sets for just under $21 total!

  8. Kitty

    Are these loud?

    • Cori

There is some noise but not much. Less noise than if you were drying shoes .

  9. Marcia

The price has gone up already.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Darn!
