Amazon + Whole Foods = Lower Organic Grocery Prices!

As a result of Amazon and Whole Foods Market merging, both companies are promising to work together to make Whole Foods Market’s natural and organic food affordable for everyone. Starting today, August 28th, Whole Foods will be offering lower prices on a selection of best-selling grocery staples across all of its stores.

According to my local store in Boise, Idaho, the process of lowering prices will take a little bit of time; however, I did spot some signage and a few available discounts! As an example, these Responsibly Farmed Fresh Atlantic Salmon Fillets have been marked down to $4.99 per 6oz fillet (previously $7.49 per 6oz fillet). I also spotted Organic Hass Avocados for $1.99 each (previously $2.79).

Have you spotted lower prices on organic groceries at your Whole Foods Market? Do tell!

This is awesome! We loved Whole Foods but didn’t love their prices. Win win!

I don’t celebrate this. Amazon is too big at this point. When are we going to start worrying that they are going to take over our lives and our government?

    • A

I think our government has more pressing concerns.

    • Lo

I’ve hear this argument also but I don’t remember where. I think the news? Was saying the deal maybe shouldn’t have happened because Amazon is becoming a monopoly. It was probably cbs morning cuz I don’t remember it in depth ( tv is background noise in the morning).

    • Jenny

Yes I worry about Amazon becoming a monopoly. The have the power and do drive other companies out of business. (Similar to the Wal-Mart effect.) What happens once K-Mart, Target, HEB, ect are all gone? Then they can raise the prices to what ever they want. I rarely shopped at Whole Foods before because I didn’t like some of their politics and won’t spend a dime there anymore.

Please file your complaints through the appropriate channels, valued pimecitizen 🙂 honeslty though, if alexa turns out to be skynet (even thoughshe says shes not if you ask her) i’m totally cool with it. last week, i paid $0.25 for annie’s thousand island dressing. 25 cents!!!! I wish the government would subsidize my groceries more…. and not be led by selfish, racist, xenophobic, sexist, undereducated, overpaid, and downright awful leaders. Just sayin’ Bring on the robot overlords!

      • Amy

        You sound pretty angry 😂😂

        • Leigh

Really? Where’s the sarcasm font when you need it?

      • tanyam

Totally agree! Tons of things to worry about considering our current state, so please be happy with lower prices Amazon offers and worry about serious stuff.

We have one Whole Foods in town but it’s all the way across town. Hopefully the deals and lower prices will make up for the trip!

  4. Cara

I’m waiting to see if the prices will be significantly lower because the few prices that I have seen today weren’t impressive. I’m a Whole Foods fan but I only shopped there every once in awhile because the prices were so high

Still not cheap enough for me, and the parking lots at the 2 WFs nearest me are HORRIBLE. I’m still shopping at Sprouts! Easy parking, great prices. And yes, I agree with Jay….Amazon is getting too big and it’s kind of scary. Once they have gobbled up all the competition, then if they want to charge $5 for an avocado, you won’t have a lot of alternatives. You’ll just have to pay the $5! Amazon has gotten so big that even if they undercut the competition in grocery for a bit to put some of the smaller companies out of business, it’ won’t hurt them since they will make up for it with online sales profits. When they starve the competition and buy them up, we’ll all be in trouble and paying whatever they want to charge.

I got a bunch of apples today ! I am glad they are lowering the prices. I use to pay a lot more. I didn’t see too many items that were marked down. Mainly saw the apples and grabbed a bunch at 1.99 lb.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great score!

I was irritated when I had to pay 99 cents for a small avocado at Kroger yesterday. I would never pay double that unless that was the price everywhere & I had no other choice.

    • Mindy

The difference is ORGANIC. And many people will pay much more for organic produce.

  8. rosie

Trader Joe’s has these small avocados, they are in a multipack and they are less than $1 a piece. I think they are 6 for $4. They are delicious and just the right size for 1 person.

  9. Wren

Haven’t been a Whole Foods shopper and still don’t plan to become one but interesting merger. 🤔

  10. aniqua

avocados don’t need to be bought organic. they have a thick skin so the pesticides don’t pentrate
