Love Rae Dunn coffee cups and pottery?🙋
If you’re a fan of these popular farmhouse looking brand of white mugs, bowls, and canisters with tall, skinny writing on the front, then how about making some DIY Christmas ornaments for your tree?! 🎄
To get this trendy Rae Dunn look onto ornaments, simply cut and apply black vinyl to solid white ornaments. It’s such a fun project and you’ll love the end result! Change up the wording to any holiday words desired. Santa’s reindeer names would be really fun too!
To make it easy, I’ve linked the exact ornaments, ribbon, and supplies I used. 🙂
DIY Rae Dunn Inspired Ornaments
1.) Download the free font from dafont.com called “The Skinny”. Open Cricut Design Space and type out Christmas related words using ‘The Skinny” font. Size words to about 1.5 inches.
2.) Cut words using black vinyl and weed out the excess vinyl. Cut decals into individual words.
3.) Try Glad Press and Seal to transfer vinyl to ornament. It’s really thin and stretchy, which made it easy to apply vinyl to a round ornament without bubbling. (I first tried using transfer tape and it was too thick and didn’t bend with the ball shaped ornament very well.)
4.) To transfer, place sticky part of Press and Seal over vinyl word. Use a rubbing tool or credit card over the word. Then lift the press and seal off the paper and now your word will be lifted off paper backing. Place word onto center of ornament. Always press middle of word first, then work outwards. Finally, lift the Press and Seal off. (After the first few, you’ll be an expert!)
6.) Add Christmas ribbon if desired.
Don’t have a vinyl cutting machine?
As an alternative, maybe consider using a thin sharpie paint pen and hand draw lettering!
I’m so obsessed with these Christmas ornaments!🎄
They are so fun to make and look great on my tree. I think this would be such a fun craft night party idea to do with friends! I also think a set of these ornaments would make a beautiful DIY gift idea as well!
Also worth mentioning, this idea isn’t limited to Christmas ornaments! You can cut lettering like this to embellish plain white pitchers, mugs, canisters, pottery, etc. in order to get a similar Rae Dunn look on items you may already have!
