I’m not seeing the discounted rate when I click on the link. I have an account just because I have prime but I’ve never purchased anything or started a free trial. Any suggestions?

    • Brandon

I could be completely wrong but audible and prime are separate in itself. I had a prime member several years before I signed up for audible.

I could be completely off base but just speaking from my experience.

Contact customer service. Although you can access Audible content through the Amazon site, it also has a separate site and the memberships are separate.

Have you had a subscription or free trial in the last 3 months? If so, you will not see the offer. If not, maybe try switching browser or clear your browser history. Hope that helps!

So sorry so many of you are having issues. I am able to click on the link in the post above and see this offer in a banner right on the landing page. I am not sure why it appears to be available to select new customers only.

So I contacted customer service and they looked into it and couldn’t find anything for that price. They said I might need a promo code if it’s from a third party company.. any idea?

Hmmm…weird…I just cancelled my Audible membership on Friday and was able to do this deal on my main Amazon account. I tried it on my other Amazon account and the deal didn’t come up for me though. Not sure what to tell you. Audible can be a bit iffy though. I just try all offers that come through and see what works and what doesn’t. Although I do buy audiobooks from them, I seldom pay for a membership due to all the freebies that come down the pike at various points during the year. Try clearing your cache and maybe trying another browser to see if that helps. Sorry it’s not working for you.

I’m a long time Audible user too but do not have an active account currently and can’t pull up anything that does not show the $14.95/month offer. Frustrating.

Didn’t work for me either. I had a subscription that I cancelled approx. a year ago. I’m going to see it if works under my husband’s Amazon account.

Can someone tell me how this works? Do you download the book to a device and listen to it from there? Or do you have to be connected by wifi or provider in order to listen? I’m asking because I like to listen to audiobooks while traveling to visit my daughter, but in some areas, I have no phone signal.

    • Chris

Audible has an app you can use to download the books you own to your phone and you can play the books from the app. You can then delete it from your device when you are done. All your purchased items remain in your cloud library and can be re-downloaded at any time. It’s really easy to use. I believe that you can also download them straight from the Audible website to iTunes and then synch to an iPhone or iPod from there if you aren’t using the app. I assume there are probably other options for download as well, but the app is so easy to use that I only listen via the app. But, no, you do not need to be connected by wifi or cell data service to listen to the books.

With an Audible membership, you pay a fee each month, for which you get one credit. Each book you purchase costs a credit, so you essentially can get any book on Audible for the price of the monthly membership fee. You get a new credit each month after paying the monthly fee. You don’t have to use the credits right away, but if/when you cancel your membership, you lose any credits you haven’t spent, so you would want to use them before cancelling.

With a deal like this, you will pay $4.95 per month for 3 months. When you sign up, you’ll be charged $4.95 and immediately have a credit to use. Then a month from now, say December 26, you’ll be billed another $4.95 and get another credit in your account. Another month later, January 26, you’ll be billed $4.95 and get another credit. At this point, you will have used the 3 months of the promotion, and would have gotten a total of 3 credits you could have used to purchase a book each. After that, if you remain a member and don’t cancel, then the next month – February 26 – you would be billed the standard Audible rate of $14.95 for the month. So if you don’t want to pay the $14.95 fee, you’ll just want to cancel before you are billed in February. It’s really easy to cancel online, you’ll just need to remember to do it if you aren’t wanting to spend $14.95 for the month.

Thank you Chris! I appreciate you taking time to answer my question. Have a great night!

I got the price to work, but only 1 credit is in my account. I don’t really know what audible is. Just a way to listen to books? At $15 a month plus approx. $20 a book, I guess I don’t get what the craze is? Unless I’m misunderstanding it.

    • Amanda

Audio versions of books can be expensive so, if you get the deal for $4.95, that means for the three months you are paying a discounted price to keep the book. You don’t pay an additional price for the book, you get one book each month and it’s 100% yours to keep.

  7. Amanda

If I pay for the 3 months then cancel, do I still keep the credits to use later? There are some books coming out next year that I want and if I can keep the credits it would work out to be a great deal! Thanks

    • Chris

If you cancel before you use your credits then you will lose the credits. But, if the books are close enough to releasing to appear in Audible as available for pre-order before you need to cancel, you can use the credit to pre-order the books you want (thus spending the credits) and then cancel. Even if your membership isn’t currently active, you will still get the pre-order you purchased when it comes out. I’ve done this before when I wanted to cancel but had a number of credits that I needed to use up before cancelling.

The banner ad shows that this promo is good until the end of December, so if there are books coming out next year that you want, I’d wait until the end of December to start your subscription, which would bill you at the end of Dec/Jan/Feb, and then you’d have until the end of March to cancel. At that point hopefully the books you want have either been released or are available to pre-order before you cancel. 🙂

Hmmmm, several folks having issues with this.

I’m having NO problems at all, I’ve pulled up both offers ($4.95/month for three months and 1 month free $14.95/month 2 free books!)
I think that the service is well worth the $14.95 a month because I LOVE to read and Learn things that I can benefit from in business and in life! I only wish that they had textbooks this way! If I want to learn about a subject I check the library, Amazon, Hoopla and audible, hoping to get it both print and audio, then I read and listen at the same time. I find that this increases my speed, comprehension, and retention and it also makes it more enjoyable!
Great Deal with Much Benefit for myself, Thanks!
