      Disregard the houseboat, the measurements dont seem right in the details.

        Those measurements are wrong. My daughter has that houseboat and she loves it. Here’s the dimensions from ToysRUs: Product Dimensions (in inches): 25.70 x 8.20 x 13.90. It’s a $70 boat.

      Any recommendations on the ideal age for this? I picked up this house, along with a huge lot of critters and furniture ($50 on Facebook!) My daughter just turned 5 and I am considering whether to give it to her for Christmas or hang onto it a little longer.

          I agree, definitely give it to her for Christmas or something! My daughter just turned 4 last week, and her big gift was a Wooden Melissa & Doug Dollhouse and 3 Calico Critter families. She absolutely LOVES them and is playing with them a ton! I was thrilled as they are one of the most memorable toys of my childhood 😊 Don’t wait, 5 is the perfect age to give them to her!!

    Do Not Order From JCPenny. I Ordered The Houseboat And Saw That The Dimension Do Not Seem Right, I Sat On Hold For About A Half Hour And Was Hung Up On. Then I Got A Customer Service Rep Who Was No Help And Ended Up Hanging Up On Me When I Asked To Speak To Her Supervisor. Bad Customer Service!!!!!

        Oh my gosh, I totally had the same experience! The customer service rep was completely degrading and hung up on me. It was crazy. I’ve never had an experience like that before.

    At Target they carry little woodland animals like the Calico Critters, that are,I think called Woodzies & they seem to be the same quality as the Critters and are usually a few $ less than the Calico Critters. But what a deal on the house!

      The Little Woodsies at Target are larger. The furniture is too big for Calico Critters

    So, I ordered the houseboat. I know the dimensions are off. But I’m taking a chance because my daughter absolutely wants this and I don’t want to spend over $50 on it. My delivery method is in store, so if it’s wrong, I’ll just return it right away. Wish me luck!

    I loved my set when I was little. They were by a sylvania co then. My parents could not find more critters or accessories. I would have loved this stuff and been very appreciative. My daughters could care less about doll houses and stuff. They each have american girl dolls with tons of clothes from grandma hardly touched, they have a dollhouse hardly played with. They like drawing, reading, legos and puzzles. I would have loved the stuff they have the opportunity to play with. I wish I could be 6 again. Show the girls how to play.

      Thank you for your comment! I love this set and have wanted a house like this since the 80’s! I only had a few critters growing up and dreamed about playing in a house like this. My 4 year old isn’t into this and I’m so sad. I’m not going to buy it for me but I want to lol.

    Ordered the townhouse gift set, house boat, and another set from JCP. Received the order today and all 3 items in my package are different than what was advertised on the JCP website 🙁 I’m off to contact customer service now…..

      Same here! They sent me the school house, and not the luxury townhouse. Ugh. Wait time is 45 minutes and everyone is complaining they get hung up on!

        I ordered the townhouse too. but they sent me me the schoolhouse. woman that I talked to said I did did order the schoolhouse but I have the order conf. and it says townhouse. very upset

          Yep! Same experience here. Was on hold FOREVER, just to be told I was lying and I actually did order the schoolhouse and some other item and not the townhome and houseboat. I told her I had the confirmation e-mail that showed it. She eventually just hung up on me. I am so upset about not the mix up in items, but the way I was treated. Will definitely be rethinking shopping at JC Penney.

    Ordered the houseboat and got a little Seaside treasure set. I also noticed that my invoice online has changed mysteriously to reflect the seaside treasure set I was sent. My order confirmation email shows and says the houseboat. Can’t get through to customer service. I will not be ordering or shopping at JCPenney, no matter how good the deal is. This is ridiculous and I am beyond upset!!!

      And after being on hold for 40 minutes I get put back on hold and then hung up on. These sets will go back and I will not shop there again!!!

    I ordered the townhouse and the houseboat. Received the school and the small seaside set. Customer service said they would send a shipping label to return and honor the price paid to order the correct items. The products are the same for the school and the townhouse kit. Same for the boat and the seaside set. I looked at an email sent yesterday for the hot dog bus. Once you click on the link takes you to jcp but the description says hot dog bus. Pic is of the townhouse. Something is really screwed up with their site. Any suggestions on how to receive the right products? My email shows picture of correct items I wanted. I normally don’t shop online. Now I know why. Bummed

      After not being able to get through to customer service I went to my local store to return the 2 seaside sets I got instead of the houseboat I ordered. The associate offered to reorder the correct thing which does not show to be in stock now of course. He offered to order a comparable set at the price I got the houseboats for. He ordered the $79.99 treehouse school set for me for the same $24.99 price. I am hoping these arrive correctly, they have yet to ship out.

    I got a Stinkin treehouse instead of the the luxury townhome, Sssooo mad to see all of the other responses that got wrong stuff as well. Never again buying toys from them

    Got the school house instead of the luxury townhouse. Called and they offered to send the correct item. I was dumb enough to believe them. I just got the second shipment. It’s another school house! Never again. I’m sending both back and getting a refund.

    I ordered the houseboat as well and received the small seaside set. My order was changed online to reflect I ordered the seaside set. I printed my email conf showing the houseboat and I’m going to take it to the store. (Neither the item ordered or received are on the website now) This is bad business JcPenney!! So frustrating. I had more JCP items on my Christmas list but I’m going elsewhere.

    I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that is having trouble with this. I ordered the luxury townhome gift set and got the tree house. I called the 800 number and after waiting 40 minutes, they didn’t help and told me to go to the store. Went to store and was told it was out of stock. I wanted to get cash instead of returning it to my debit card. The manager wouldn’t come speak to me about it. Would only talk with cashier on the phone about it. She refused to do it. So now I’m waiting for my money to get back into my account so I can go buy it somewhere else. I am DONE ordering from JC Penny’s. I’m curious if anyone’s order was correct.

    Update: I took the seaside treasure toy to the store today to return it. I hoped to get the houseboat I ordered but they couldn’t even find it in their system. They wouldn’t let me order anything to replace it and because I paid with Paypal, they would only give me money back on a gift card. However, they didn’t want to give me my money back for shipping! I wasn’t taking no for an answer on that one; I’m not paying them to send me the wrong item. They called someone and was told no refund for shipping. I asked to talk to someone else and after going through three people, I finally got it back. Never, ever, ever again…

    Same experience as everyone else. I’m on hold but thinking of hanging up since you all mentioned that your didn’t get resolution anyways. I’m guessing the had the wrong picture and product description on their website. Now when I click the link in my confirmation email for luxury townhome, it takes me to the school. But the picture of the item still shows the town home. There is no email or chat feature working to contact them and this is such a hassle. We live 2 hrs away from JcPenney so it’s not easy for me to just return an item to store. Ugh. Won’t be shopping again. Not worth this customer service hassle.

    So frustrating!! Now it looks as though the townhome is unavailable to order…I didn’t want to pay $60 for the schoolhouse.

      Same thing happened to me! My husband was on hold for 2 hours and got transferred to talk to 3 different people. In the end they said they didn’t have the item.
