I️ didn’t buy this for myself, I️ have a Christmas dinner to attend at my brothers house so I️ thought I️ would put flowers or greenery in it and give it to my sister in law as a thank you for hosting dinner 😃

OT for a sec…..LOL…Stephanie, can I just say how thrilled I am that you are doing this and brought this up. It seems to be such a thing of the past to come bearing a gift for the host. It doesn’t have to cost much to show appreciation. Hosting others takes a ton of time to prepare and often added expense, I wish more would take the time to grab a little something on the way to their next event. I know my Momma will enjoy her small ($4) poinsettia to sit on the table Christmas Eve. ; ) Merry Christmas!

I completely agree!! Think of all the time, money, and energy it takes to have people over! I always bring a little gift.

      • Patty

I So agree. I have been hosting Thanksgiving for 20 some years and their’s only about 2 people that acknowledge it with a little something and a handwritten card (out of 6 to 7 families).I always treasure the handwritten cards, it’s such a lost art. Anything acknowledging all the time, effort, money and planning. This will be a nice gesture and I am sure we’ll appreciated.😍

        • Patty

Oops “well”. I always bring a gift with a handwritten card as well. I love making baskets and putting together things that the host enjoys or can use. On a last minute notice, I usually have thank you cards on hand and put together something small. The effort and thoughtfulness that goes with the gift tells the host that they are appreciated.💕

    • Nolabelle

I agree as well. If I don’t bring a gift, (which is rare), I usually send one afterwards with a handwritten note. Hosting a party takes a lot of energy and planning, even for those who it appears a seamless effort. I may purchase the small ones to keep on hand for future gifts.

    • MommyOfTheYear

You’re my kinda girl, Stephanie! Such a sweet idea for a hostess gift–and I like hearing there are still a few thoughtful, grateful guests like you around. Merry Everything! 🙂

      You’re welcome!

So, I have to pay for a rusty coffee can?

    • RL

LOL. I was thinking the exact same thing. These should be $0.25 at a flea market.. oops it’s Pottery Barn so make that $25.00. Unbelievable.

    • jennifer

You don’t have to. You can let those of us that like this sort of thing buy this and you can spend your money on a brand new can of coffee.

      • Lina

        🤣🤣

    • Mary

I had the same thought! These look like old cans that have been in my shed for the last 20 years! Lol

I’m on the hunt for small items for a shelf I just hung in my half bathroom, this is perfect and the right price. Thanks!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welcome!

  7. Jennine

So those aren’t surprised☀️ the small one is about the size of a canned good can, or say about a medium size yankee candle. For those DIY’er you can age any steel metal (which majority of cans are made of) with salt, vinegar and peroxide 🙂 new science experiment here!

  8. Susan

Thanks Jennine on heads up on size. Also thanks for comments on act of gratitude, seems to be a dying expression. Its all about the look, tin cans mean nothing to some, and a decorator item for others.

  9. AOhio

I think they are cute, but I’m super cheap, so I just save cans and paint/decorate them!

For the whole “acknowledge/appreciate the host(ess)” conversation . . .completely agree and that’s why I don’t host parties anymore. The cost and effort just wasn’t appreciated and I had more of a mess to clean up after they left. And that’s probably why there hasn’t been a get together at someones house for 5+ years! Lol
