For those with a Kohls card who haven’t purchased one through them this season and can still use the $60 rebate, the 5q artisan 300w is a better deal IMO, if they still had the 325 5qt I would advocate that one. If you are getting this for someone who is a baker and especially someone who makes a lot of heavy cookie dough or double batches of bread, size up to at least a 5qt and a bigger motor. I have this model and it has a 275w motor I can’t make a double standard loaf bread recipe in this one because the bowl is too small and tough cookie doughs can make it whine and struggle. I purchased the 300w for my sister this year and next year I will be up-grading to the a larger motor as well.
Thanks for the feedback, rae!
I definitely agree! If you can splurge a little more for a bigger and more powerful one you’ll be much happier. I have a 5 qt, 300 W one and it struggles when I make a double batch of cookie dough (especially in the winter when the house is cold). I just can’t justify to an upgrade since I don’t use it very often. But I definitely do appreciate it during the times that do use it.
Been wanting one for years. I keep wondering if they are worth the high price.
I got a great deal on one last year thanks to HS2. I always wanted one and got it as a present to myself. I love it. It stays on the counter because it matches my decor. I use it to bake cookies, pies, and cakes. It makes it so much more easier than my old stand or hand mixer especially baking for the holidays.
It’s worth it!!!
I would say it depends on how often you use a hand mixer or rather how often you see a recipe you want to make but don’t want to struggle with using the hand mixer. Some of the things I love is that I can turn it on start putting ingredients in and they are mixed up and ready to bake a batch of cookies in only a couple minutes. Bread dough is much easier with this as well. Unlike using a hand mixer the batters and doughs stay in the bowl and don’t get spattered on your walls, so long as you don’t over fill the bowl. There are hacks for using Ice cream tub lids with a large center cut out to make a DIY splash guard as well. For myself this mixer has basically replaced my hand mixer and my bread machine that I only used for the dough setting. Some people go on to buy the expensive attachments but the reviews are not always the best for them and they are usually WAY more expensive than having say a manual pasta roller or a regular food processor.
If you do decide to get one H2S is a great place to follow to find the best deals and for myself I have gotten two from Kohls this model a few years ago and a bigger Artisan model this year both were under 150 after all was said and done Though the initial OOP was higher. The smaller model was under $100 and the bigger one I got this year worked out to be about 120 (that is it will be after I get the rebates back).
I love to use mine to shred chicken and mash potatoes. 😁
Purchased one for my daughter a few years ago. As she is a college freshman, the kitchenaid remains in my house. She loves it though! Great for making smooth mashed potatoes.
