For anyone who has never had an aquarium, just an fyi that they can get pretty costly. You generally need alot more than a starter kit provides. It was a bit more time consuming than i thought it would be too. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!

Thanks for your honest feedback Gary! Good to know!! Merry Christmas!!

It can be very costly, it has a lot to do with the kind of fish you get. I have two small fancy goldfish in a 29g tank (for now) and i only have a filter in there, i dont have or need a heater because they can live in cold temperatures. If you do constant water changes your fish will do great. Tropical fish are more complicated so i strongly recommend you do your research before buying fish to see what they need and how big they get.

I just got $3.25 from ibotta for shopping throught the ibotta app. I placed my order last night and it got approved today. I got the 29g started kit, just like the post, now
i just have to go pick it up

It need not be time consuming nor expensive . cost depends on type of fish selected( start at 1.00 in my area) and filters purchased at set up. the only time spent need be on watching the fish refilling as evaporation requires and in my experience quarterly filter changes. 2 penguin 350 filters on a 55 gallon tank equal me not changing water in over 20 years and having fish live as long as 9 years!

    Thanks!!
I have cichlids and are in need of another 55 gallon. And $100 is cheap when it comes with all we need.

      You’re welcome Ani!

Lol! I can only imagine. I bought two Bettas (and two of everything that was needed) for my two kids and we spent $90! I was shocked to say the least.

We have 5 fish tanks in our home. Ranging from a 10 gallon quarantine tank(flower horn is in it), 75 gallon(Oscar is in it), 120 gallon(Angels are in it), 220 gallon(New Nothing Yet), and I forgot our other Angel Tank. It can be expensive putting the tanks together the way you want. Or if your fish have a parasite. Other than that they are easy to maintain as long as you do frequent water changes.

Water changes are a GIGANTIC pain in the butt. No matter what any one else says !!

Any suggestions for “Hermit crabs as a pet”- Do I need a tank for that? Where should we look to buy this pet from?

    • TW

Hermit crabs are extremely challenging, they need tank mates l, other crabs of the same size. They need heat, they need available freshwater and also a marine salt mix water as well. They need many available shells to grow and change in to. I would research my hermit crabs upkeep before purchasing, you don’t want to condemn it to a short life.
