From Lel: Try Walmart or Aldi’s Great Value version of these cookies! They are just as good and they have them for less than $1.50. Great Value actually tastes better!

Not Keebler brand. But I buy the Great Value’s brand of pinwheels instead of Nabisco’s brand. Like them better and $3.00 cheaper than Nabisco.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yum! Thanks for sharing Debbie!

  2. Amy

Hmmm…I’m skeptical but will definitely try them if the Hip2Savers tell me they are good!!!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hoping you enjoy them too Amy!

  3. A

Aldi’s cookies which come in varieties reminiscent of gs cookies are around $1 and also totally delicious!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh cool! Thanks for the tip!

    • Taylor S.

My husband loves Aldi’s Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies

      • mia

those are my favorite to lol..

    • Monika

YES! Dang near everything is good at Aldi. Their cookies and chips are amazing. Cookies are the best dupes especially the gs dupes. Someone really needs to make a dupe for the shortbreads … they made one for every classic except that one.

    • Nicole

Agreed 🙂 Aldi coconut and peanut chocolate cookies look just like Girl Scout and Keebler but taste better for less than half the price!

    • LadieErvin

I was just about to comment that! I love their version if thin mints!

    • A

Hubby always makes me get the “samoas” when I go to Aldi. For $1.67 I can’t say no!

  4. Becky

I agree… The Great Value Fudge Covered Peanut Butter cookies are delicious!

    • Lala

YES!!! Was going to say the same thing! I can’t have them around because I may eat the entire bagful!!!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Those do sound Tasty! Thanks for sharing your favorite! 😉

    • Dvbo79

These are very good! Taste like Girl Scout Tagalongs. I think they are usually $1.27 at my local WalMart.

  5. Teresa

YES!!! Love them and so much cheaper! 😋😋😋

  6. Amber

I like certain kinds of them. The chocolate striped round GV ones are better to me, but hubby likes name brand because they are “fudge” striped 😜 I also love the chocolate covered pb and will eat the whole bag! The lemon sandwich filled are good, but the rest are better name brand (Oreos!)

If it’s during cookie season (which is starting right now!) please please consider buying genuine Girl Scout cookies to support your local troops. Cookie sales are often the sole source of funding for troops, they don’t get financial support from GSUSA. The girls work hard to be creative in their booths, and they learn so much about financial planning, marketing, and so much more.

-From a Girl Scout mom 🙂

    • Just passing through

Yes! Please buy our overpriced cookies! I hate to peddle them but our troop was able to go to camp because of cookie sales.
P.s there are other ways to fundraise if you participate in the catalog sale first.

      • Aimkins

I love girl scout cookies and if I see a kid standing outside selling them I either buy them or go in to get cash and then buy them. They work so hard.

    • Jacquie

She very right.. not every troop participates in the catalog sales so this may very well be the troops only fundraising that they do for the year. The girls start very young and learn so much from Girl Scouts. Please buy from your local troops. And Girl Scouts look forward to selling them it’s a tradition that they usually know about when they join.

  8. LeAnne

Several times a year Kroger’s or Kroger affiliates have deals with Keebler either as part of a mega or 5x use coupon that makes boxes of the Keebler cookies .99 each.

  9. Nydia

My family and I agree that they are delicious!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Happy to hear you and your family have enjoyed them!

  10. kim

    And now I want cookies…..

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Lol! Me too! 😉

  11. kerRI

There is no comparison to a real Pop Tart tho. Generics are nowhere near as good.

    • Em

      So true!!!

    • Just passing through

I feel that way about tater tots…

    • Kelly

I agree on the tater tots! Name brand is the only way to go.

      • Rae

I just got some name brand tots that were awful. They had ‘that’ taste like the off brand ones do. It’s hard to describe like greasy freezer burn? I don’t know but I was totally put off by them and refused to eat them but the kids still liked them. I would rather go through the effort of making homemade crispy potato wedges instead.

    • Dorothy

There is one brand of Pop Tarts that is better than original brand and it is tons healthier believe it or not. It is by Nature’s Path. My son has red dye allergies so we had to buy these because he loved Pop tarts so much and at age 16 he broke out in terrible hives and swelling from red dyes. He was thrilled we found Nature’s Path, and now everyone loves them! They are slightly more expensive. They are sold at Target very reasonably and at Whole Foods slightly unreasonable. LOL.

    • christine

I HATE name band pop tarts. I only buy generic

  12. Morna

Their Coconut Dreams are so good. They are a cheap and easily found replacement of Samoas.

  13. MrsK

Our Aldi has the 10 oz Benton’s Fudge Mint Cookies for 95 cents. Yum.

  14. Jenna

Aldi’s Samoa knockoffs are amazing. And the choc covered PB, and double stuffed Oreo knockoff. All of them!

    • Betsey

I have to pretend not to see Aldi’s version of Samoa’s whenever I go. Not safe for me as I’ll eat the whole thing – they’re so good!!

Also, I bought the Great Value version of mint Oreos the other day for my mint-loving kids. Wasn’t sure if they’d like them or not. The entire bag was gone in 1.5 days! I tried one (okay, or more – LOL) and I have to say that I like the texture of the cream in the Great Value ones better than Oreos. I’m planning to grab a bag of the plain Oreo-like ones the next time I go to Walmart to compare….for science of course!! 🙂

  15. Melanie

I love the Great Value key lime sandwich cookies. I have been pondering on a way to use them in a recipe. If it wasn’t so cold out, I would head over to Walmart to pick some up right now!

    • celticmommie

Yes! The key lime are amazing.

  16. Mourrene

I tried the GV gluten-free “Oreo” cookies. They were much better than I expected. I would buy them again. And they were reasonably priced for them to be a gluten-free item.

    • cindy b

      Thanks for the tip!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh cool! Thanks for the heads up! Good to know the gluten free variety was so tasty!

  17. FosterMomsNeverHaveEmptyNestSyndrome

Great value chocolate covered peanut butter cookies are twice as good as the Girl Scout version-tagalong‘s-and for 2 dollars you get three times as many as in their box!

  18. Angela

Love those Pecan Shortbread ones. They are my favorite.

  19. leah

Plus anything from Aldi’s comes with a money back guarantee.
Often the “name brand” company makes the copy cat cookie and just packages it in the store specific packaging.

  20. Sharon Sand

I agree, buy girl scout cookies when they are selling. I freeze them. Walmart does a great job copying – those are the ones that get fed to hungry grandkids. We get the Girl Scout cookies!

  21. tipaye

Don’t forget Great Value brand raw cookie dough! I’ve been buying the chocolate chip for over a decade. Delicious!

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Ooh, that sounds WONDERFUL!!

  22. Ashley C.

Agreed! Walmart’s version of Girl Scout cookies are just as good and so much cheaper. I would rather not give me money to the Girl Scout organization anyways because of the history behind it. At least we can still enjoy the cookie flavors we love courtesy of Walmart.

    • Just passing through

Really you won’t support Girl Scouts but support Walmart?

    • Kimmy

Agreed me neither I’ll choose another fundraiser like a school. Those Walmart cookies are pretty good!

  23. Stacy

They will NEVER be as good as Girl Scout cookies- save your money and support the Scouts.

  24. Mandy

Dollar General and Family Dollar also have great tasting chocolate mint and chocolate peanut butter cookies (Girl scout knockoffs) for only $1!

  25. Jennlk84

I’m all about supporting the girl scouts when they’re selling! When our freezer is empty though the Aldi brand are just as delicious (if not better!!)

  26. Kay

My hubs prefers GS thin mints. I have tried a few other brands, but none have beaten GS yet. So we will b supporting GS again this year. As for me, I’m ok with the cheaper generic brands that still taste good.

  27. SamanthaR

I love them and Keebler’s brand! Soooo much better then Girl Scout cookies! I’m a cookie mom to a daisy gs so I know this year is going to be hard to sell due to brands coming out wiTh similar products that taste better! Though the Girl Scouts are suffering Bc of this!

  28. Lel

Ok, so we should support the scouts when its cookie season but while we are on the subject of empty calories, Adli’s donut packs are great and less than half price of Entemman’s or others. They have the chocolate covered and variety packs.

  29. veronica

Got everyone i know addicted to them! Think girls scout cookies !!! Love love love them .92 at my walmart in Ky.

  30. Katie

Dollar General has great Girl Scout off brand cookies

  31. kayla

Thumbs up for Great Value Mint Cookies. I wish they would stock more of them at Walmart, cause they run out of them pretty fast.

  32. Joanna Battle

    I’m gonna be a grandmother

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Congratulations! 💕
