I have owned both and I would never buy anything other then a dyson now. My favorite is the handheld one that charges on the wall. Have had them for over 3 years and no problems!! I would say buy!!!

I own the dyson upright ball vacuum. It works great.. my only issue is the hose you pull out for cleaning is terrible. The vacuum falls over when i try to stretch it out and makes it pretty much unusable. I’ve owned mine for about 3 years so it may be something they have changed since then ?
Mine does the same thing. I’m glad I’m not the only one.
Dyson is AWFUL. I love the suction but who designed the wand? I have to completely unwind the cord to use it? It is shaped weird so that things get stuck. Also it bends in half and then won’t work. Waste of money and time. It also will not stay upright, it fell over and hit my kid in the eye.

I have a Dyson and never had a problem with it staying upright. I have an animal model and it’s great on getting dog hair out of the carpet.
I got sucked in by an Amazon review on a new Oreck to replace my ancient Dyson animal that had lost its suction – spent $370 and should have sent it back as it kept tipping over. It then developed a burning smell within 2 months of use, despite me constantly clearing out the dirt chamber. The Oreck service on phone were horrible. Took it into the local Oreck store and was informed that because we bought from Amazon, it was not under warranty. $370 for 4 months of vaccum cleaning. The Oreck people told me we had too much carpet fiber being suctioned from our Berber carpet!!!! Took my ancient Dyson to the repair shop and the Dyson technician told me that we had the best Dyson on the market. $120 for full cleaning and it was as good as new. We have since learned to clean out the filter units ourselves following DIY online videos. Dyson can’t be beat!
