Oh, Dollar Tree! We ❤ You!

Did you know that Dollar Tree sells these Tool Bench Hardware Storage Cases for just $1?

And although they appear to be marketed for hardware items, they can be used for organizing VARIOUS items like crafting beads, sewing string, buttons, small toys (like LEGOs and Shopkins!) and much more!

Creative Hip2Savers! What else can these be used for? 😀

(Thanks, Ksantos and Jen!)

I got one for my husband at the Target Dollar spot a while ago and he uses it for his rotary tool attachments, the bits. Perfect way to store them.

What a great idea! I may grab one for my husband too! Thanks for sharing!

I just bought these this past week. I’m using these as party favors for my sons fishing themed birthday party. I’m going to put an assortment of gummy worms, sharks, and swedish fish so that they look like tackle boxes.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Aww, LOVE IT! Such a cute Birthday theme!!

    • Jc

      What a cute idea!

      Love it!

    • AmyJOrlando

Perfect! My son actually uses these to organize his fishing hooks and other tackle.

I made a tool kit for my son when he graduated high school to take to college and put in different size nails, screws, picture hangers, etc. He has a few of many different kinds and it takes up very little space in his tool box (that I got free with points from Sears, though they do have a version at Dollar Tree for $1!).

I like to add paint in the squares for kids crafts. With the lid I can save extra paint for the next day.

    • Jackie

      That is an awesome idea!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ooh! Awesome! Thanks for the tip Nana!

  5. Jackie

These are perfect for crafts, especially small scrapbook embellishments!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

So true Jackie! Thanks a ton for the suggestion!

I think it would work really well for storing all my daughter’s hair things and you can’t beat the price!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes! Another great idea! My daughter needs something to organize her hair things! We lose them all the time!

    • Nina

Yes, this is exactly what we use it for.
Hair clips, bobby-pins, barrettes. Even if they disappear afterwards, atleast we can try!

  7. SRA

I used them to organize my daughter’s hair ties by color. And I also use them to sort out perler/fuse/aqua beads for crafts.

  8. Treezah

I put my earrings through the holes of a button and then put on the backs. I store my teacher collection of holiday related earrings.

Minifigure & Misc. small LEGO organization🙌🏻

  10. Mamamia

We bought something similar but larger for the ever growing shopkins collection from Michael’s!

  11. Emily

My husband uses one for his vitamins/ supplements.

    • 1sb711

Yes! Me too! The bigger ones sometimes don’t fit in other containers!

  12. Sara

AA batteries do not fit in here!

We use these exact ones for jewelry boxes for me and my daughter. Unless it’s really expensive jewelry, basic earrings, rings, necklaces, etc fit perfectly in these and stack neatly in a drawer. Saves a lot of space over chunky jewelry boxes on a dresser!

    • 🌺Nolee🌺

I use them for jewelry as well. Especially when we travel. Great for keeping earrings together!

  14. hologram87

My daughter uses these for beads for when she makes necklaces and also for her Shopkins

  15. Disa

I’m going to make teacher appreciation gifts with these “teachers survival kit” and put an assortment of candy!

  16. Nicole

I bought one of these at the Dollar Tree the other day. I’m going to buy a second one and use them to organize the letters from my letter board!

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Great idea to use it for those letters!

    • Suzanne

Thank you! I was wondering if the letters would work.

  17. Crystal A Condo

My husband makes beaded earrings and uses these cases to hold his seed beads. Compared to other we have used these are great and the beads stay separate even with tipping or shacking.

  18. SavingsSamuri

I got the same kind of thing from a 99 cents only store. It was bigger and way way better than the very small one they sell at the Dollar Tree. Hope it helps.

    • Aly

I agree, the ones at one of the Dollar Trees near me were really small and thin and can only hold really small things. Instead I picked up a couple from Walmart for $2 each as the cubbies were a bit bigger and deeper.

  19. Lisa

Put an assortment of different snacks for kids for a road trip! 😃

  20. Judy Trac

I use this for my pills

  21. Kaylee

I made an “emergency stash” for teachers and filled it with goodies, colorful paper clips etc

  22. Tracy

I hope mine has this. My daughter is leaving to college and going to put together emergency aid items it in (bandage, ointment, aspirin, etc.)

  23. Julie m

I bought many of the $2 ones from Walmart with the adjustable slots, we are going to use them for drone propellers and drone batteries, first aid kits, and for storing our arduino sensors and wires. Also good to store sewing notions, I made a sewing kit for for each my son and daughter and showed them basic hand stitch ( hole mend, buttons, ec) These smaller type containers are good for storing board game pieces, u can put the small pieces in the container and the container can go inside board game box. You can use these to store American girl doll hair accessories, or to storw Barbie size or 6 in. toy figures t. To store watch or other small specialty batteries, eye glass repair kits.
