When reading all the incredible reviews, keep in mind that the author of this book works in the publishing industry as an editor. Do yourself a favor and get on a waiting list for this at the library. It isn’t worth $4.

I’ve read mixed reviews, definitely on library waiting list!

    • carissa

      thank you Erin!

    • Melanie M

I totally agree with Erin. This book is/was way over-hyped. I wouldn’t even say it was good.

It’s also the audible daily deal

      Oh cool! Thanks for sharing!

Incidentally, I listened to the audiobook. I found the performance completely over the top, which may have affected my opinion of the book itself, which seemed unnecessarily long, tedious, and with a completely unlikable protagonist. And as mentioned, it relies *heavily* on other (better) books.

      • Ani

Which books does it rely heavily on?

      • Melanie M

Again, I completely agree with Erin. I listened to it in the car and the narrator was terrible!

This book was okay. My main issue with it is that the author “borrowed” major plot points from at least five different books/movies. As I read it I became more focused on “where have I read/seen this before” rather than on the actual book. I give the author credit though for not calling the book, “Girl in the Window.”

I bought this last week for $14. Was up late last night because I had to finish it! Very suspenseful. Good read!

How cool! Glad to hear how much you enjoyed this one! Thanks for the review!

i just finished this book last week. (i checked it out from the library–i only read paper books–only had to wait a week to get it.) i really enjoyed it and recommended it to a friend who also enjoys thrillers. i didn’t find that i was comparing the book to any other plotline, but perhaps i haven’t read those books/seen those movies. i am on “summer brain” after a LONNNNNG school year and just enjoying my pleasure reading time.

  7. Renee

Was on the local library’s waiting list which seemed like forever, but I really enjoyed this book. Believe the movie version will star Kerry Washington.

  8. Ani

This was an EXCELLENT easy read. Suspeneful, intriguing and mysterious. Great for a summer read. Don’t read too much into negative reviews, worth a shot,.

  9. Lisa

I listened to it and thought it was enjoyable.

  10. Rebecca

I also agree with checking it out from library if possible. Seemed to drag for me & a mix of plot points as others mentioned. I gotta say, a lot of these best sellers recently with 4 stars are actually mixed as far as reviews go…. they’re either getting 1 star or 5. And I tend to agree with the 1 stars usually. I’ve read 5 books in the last 2 weeks and only enjoyed a couple.

    • Michelle

      Rebecca,
Out of curiosity, what were the other four books that you enjoyed so much?
      Thanks!

I bought this item for $27 when my sisters book club was reading it and she highly recommended it. I could NOT put it down. Totally blew my mind in the end. I’ve payed it forward twice now and both people loved it to. I def think it’s worth the $3.99 price point. But like other things it’s a matter of opinion and everyone likes different things in books! Just def wanted to give my two cents 🙂
