No special mattress required. The bar at the end ensures that the mattress stays in place. I’ve had my Sealy base for 5 years and I wouldn’t go back to a flat bed. Imagine the possibility of sleeping in zero gravity.
My husband is a disabled Military Vet so the adjustable bed was a must for us…however the “fun” to be had in many positions is endless 🙈
