Wow- I apparently had a $10 courtesy credit on my account and a $5.00 amazon move promo so I only paid $16.00!!!

I’m really tempted to buy another kindle. I read quite a bit on my iPad but I find reading on it before bed is keeping me awake.

    • Casey

I’m thinking about getting a Kindle just because my iPad is kind of heavy!

      • Jenn

Get the Paperwhite or the Voyage – you will love them! I switched to the Voyage just bc I wanted the ability to go to the next page on both the left and right side, but the Paperwhite is awesome. So much lighter than an iPad, backlit but won’t strain your eyes if you read a lot, and won’t bother anyone else. Fintie cases are great and inexpensive for them.

    Got my Dot!

Got the FireStick for $9.99 using my Whole Foods promo! And 3% cash back from Ibotta! Love it.

    • Jessica

What is the whole foods promo?

  8. Jona

Is this the best price for the Dot?

  9. Barbara

Can anyone please help me out… we have Alexa in our living room, if I purchased two of the dots for each of my daughters can they listen to whatever music and stations they want or would they have to listen to what’s on Alex?

    • Jocey_g

They can each play their own stuff. And you can use the main unit to “drop in” on their device if you need to talk to them-like an intercom. IF you subscribe to the $3.99 for prime music (I forget what it’s called…but you can play almost any song with it), the two echoes won’t have those extra songs unless you upgrade to the $9.99 plan for unlimited devices.

    • Amanda

The $3.99 plan will work on all devices, the caveat is that it will only play on one device at a time. So if my daughter is streaming it on her dot, I can’t play it in the kitchen. If you all like the same music, you can set up “groups” in the app and tell Alexa to “play everywhere” and it will play on all devices in that group.

Great!! Glad to hear this is still going!

      K211,
THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this info. I have an *original* kindle that works fine but doesn’t have the backlight. I kind of sort of wanted a new one with today’s sale price from $119 to $79. Well your link deducted another $40. Now at $39! I just used amex points and FREE to me!! THANK YOU

Just a heads up. I have been following the price of the Echo Dot. Until this morning it has been $35 for awhile. This morning the price went up to $50 “on sale” at $30. So yeah. I will probably buy one, as this is the lowest price it has been since last holiday season. But it isn’t as huge as a price drop as they are trying to make it be……

  11. Amanda

You also get 10% back on the amazon credit card for buying amazon devices today.

Hi. I nee an under armour backpack for my son. Any good deals? Thank you!

  13. Jocey_g

Oh wow!! Mine does not work like that. I only get samples of paid songs in the other rooms regardless of what else is playing in the house. I have set up an everywhere group before, but I have two problems. One is that it will only play samples of paid songs & two, once I play something on the everywhere group it continues to play on the everywhere group if I don’t specify the room that I am in. So if my kids and I are home during the day and I play a song “everywhere”, if my husband is in the kitchen early the next morning and asks for a song, it plays everywhere unless he specifically says to play the song in the kitchen which nobody will ever remember to do… so I got rid of the everywhere group 🙁

For those thinking of getting a kindle in addition to an ipad for reading, I have both. Most of the time I read on the kindle, but the ipad is handy at times. I read a LOT, so sometimes I run the battery down on the kindle and want to keep reading, so grab the ipad. The really cool thing is that both keep track of your last page read, and start the second device at that page. Happy reading!

  15. Peggy

H*ll fire. I missed out on the Fire Stick. It’s sold out already.

    • Peggy

It’s back now. I saw on a news channel they’re experiencing technical glitches already. I must have experienced one. Got my Fire Stick ordered! 🙂

  16. Debbie

So, I’ll admit, I’m technology challenged. I have an echo, and Amazon Prime. If I want to stream Amazon movies and shows on tv, do I just need the fire stick? And if yes, which one?

    • Julie

Yes, you just need a fire stick, an HDMI port on your TV, and a good internet connection. I’m pretty sure there are only two versions of the fire stick – one that has a manual remote and one that is voice activated. I have the manual one and it works, but takes some time to punch through the letters when you’re doing a search, so you might want to go with the voice activated one. When you go to set it up the first time, it will ask you to log in with your Amazon account and it will be synced up after that. So, you could purchase a movie right on the fire stick and it will just charge whatever payment method you have on file in your account.
