These Are My 5 Favorite Things to Shop for at T.J. Maxx
Do you ever find yourself roaming the aisles at T.J. Maxx, and then it’s three hours later and your family is calling because they’ve filed a missing persons report? 😏 No? Just me? Well, I have no shame in my T.J. Maxx game, and I LOVE getting caught up in all the fresh finds.
Here are my favorite things I love to shop for when I step inside T.J. Maxx…
Interesting and unique grocery items (including keto/low carb finds!)
T.J.Maxx often restocks their grocery section with really interesting and unique food items — and many are low-carb! I came across keto staples like avocado oil, apple cider vinegar, and MCT oil, all for a fraction of the cost that you would pay at health stores! For example, the avocado oil is normally around $14, but I picked it up for $10. And MCT oils can cost a pretty penny, but this bottle was only $12.99!
I even found some keto products that I’d never heard of before! This coconut milk powder is supposed to be used as a milk alternative, and I think the green bean spaghetti speaks for itself. 😂 Needless to say, I’m super intrigued to try these out!
Hip Tip: See what other keto finds we spotted at Home Goods!
Workout clothes and athletic gear
I love browsing through the racks of workout gear! T.J.Maxx seems to mix their selection of lesser-known (and less expensive) athletic brands with brand name workout gear. I found these exact Athleta pants for just $29.99, compared to $84! 😱 AND super soft Reebok long-sleeve workout tops similar to this one for $12.99 versus $45! WooHoo! 💃
One of the brands I especially love is 90 Degree by Reflex — we first found them on Amazon, but I always come across their pieces on the racks at T.J.Maxx at even lower prices!
And don’t forget about checking the clearance sections! They have even hotter steals on your favorite (or soon to be favorite) workout apparel and much more…
Hip Tip: Check out our favorite budget-friendly activewear brands!
Cosmetics and personal care items
In the beauty section at T.J.Maxx, I always spot high-end brands whether it’s cosmetics or hair care. They even have brand name hot styling tools! Even though there are tons of displays to browse through, I also always go straight to the clearance areas.
It’s the end of summer, so with that comes clearance sunscreen! I scored Banana Boat Baby sunscreen spray with an SPF of 50 for just $3 per bottle — that’s almost $8 cheaper than at the drugstore! As a rule of thumb, if you come across a bottle without an expiration date, sunscreen typically remains at its original potency for up to three years.
Home decor and dishware
What a Rae Dunn selection! I ❤️ this cute farmhouse style dishware and so do many team members. We’ve been seeing more and more Rae Dunn cookware, mugs, and other ceramics pop up at discounted retailers — check out the huge inventory we recently found at Kirklands!
How FUN are these coffee “work” and “vacay” mugs?! 😍
I even picked up this new and large dog bowl for only $7.99! Lucky for me, I was able to find it since it’s pretty hard to come by online, especially at such a low price. This bowl is definitely Yoli approved! 🐶
If you’re looking for pet dishes for your own home, there are these cute “Bark” bowls available on TJMaxx.com, and you get TWO for just $9.99!

And even though I was drawn to the kitchen section because of the Rae Dunn endcap, I couldn’t leave without giving the clearance section a glance. Even though many of the pieces don’t have a full set to use as our regular dinnerware, I can usually find steals on serving dishes, linens, and adorable coffee mugs!
Large reusable bags
Right at checkout, they have a huge selection of reusable bags with SO many fun designs! These bags are so awesome as they are huge, come in so many cute styles, and are only $0.99! I usually pick up a new one on many of my shopping trips to carry all of my T.J.Maxx finds. They also make great gift bags (and, ahem, are cheaper than most gift bags!), so the recipient can reuse the bag themselves!
Warning: Don’t assume everything is a deal!
As much as I love raving about T.J.Maxx and all of the glorious discounted finds inside, it’s important to remember that not everything is a deal.
I came across these sneakers that look just like my favorite Mad Love ones at Target and thought I may have come across a cute alternative pair for less. WRONG! The TJMaxx ones are marked at $24.99 which is more expensive than the Mad Love brand at their full price of $22.99, and as many of you know, they often go on sale AND Walmart previously had similar shoes available for just under $10!
What are your favorite products to shop for at T.J.Maxx?
Let me know in the comments!
Have to second the workout brand 90 degree! They are my fav!
Yes, I agree… and the prices ROCK at TJMaxx! 💃
I love TJMaxx & Marshall’s. I always look for organic skin and hair care products. My motto is : once you see something you like there, just grab it, otherwise it’ll be gone the next day:-)
I LOVE that motto! 😉
I go mostly for designer clothes from designers that either no longer release items or have revamped the look. Michael Kors orange rain slicker for $47 (was on Amazon for $100+) and Rihanna 2017 hunter green Fenty hi-tops for $35.99 (on Puma site they were $120 for identical 2018 version). I also love the underwear section. Electronics, awesome prices. Love the travel gear too.
Such awesome tips! I love finding rare designer clothing too! It’s like a fun 3-hour+ treasure hunt every single time I shop there. 😍
Tommy Hilfiger underwear for women. I just scored on the clearance rack 3 pair for $6. I bought 3 sets. Can’t beat the price. $18 for 9 pair. SCORE!
SWEET! 👏
Bagalinni purses! Love these bags and tjmaxx has them for about half the price as online.
Awesome! I’m gonna look for these next time I’m there.
I absolutely love Bagalinni!! These changed my life after my kids could carry their own junk!
TJMaxx has always been my go-to for them.
My very favorite thing to look for at TJMaxx is Korean skincare. The facial cleansers are around $4 and much better than any “Western” product I’ve ever used and the other day I found a box of 10 face masks for $5.99! Super affordable 🙂
Ohhhhhh I’ll have to check for these next time… thanks for the tip!
Jewelry and home decor 😍
YES AND YES! 🙌
Are shoes ever a good deal there? Or is there somewhere that might be better for kids running shoes? Thank you!!
Yes, I think they do have good shoe deals often, but the selection isn’t always the best or the biggest. I have in the past, though, found killer shoe deals on well-known brand that were on clearance!
Thank you!
I agree with Collin, selection isn’t always the best, but do check when you are there. I got a great deal on a beautiful pair of Kate Spade shoes!
I agree with your praise of the cute 99 cents extra large bags – they are fantastic for schlepping huge amounts of stuff and are such a good deal! There are so many different designs, which change often, that none of my significant stash of them have the same graphic.
Yes, I agree. I LOVE all the designs and that new ones pop up often. You can never have too many reusable bags, right?! 😃
Our local TJM stopped carrying the 99 cent shopping bags! I love those bags but now have to buy them at Marshall’s.
Oh bummer! I wonder why your store stopped carrying them, I sure hope mine doesn’t.
i would suggest trying on the sneakers! i returned 2 different sized pairs from target & a pair from walmart. they just didn’t fit right but the madden ones from tj maxx fit perfectly!
They have the madden shoes at Kohls too and you can use discounts to make them around $16?
I’ve found several nice bottles of essential oil, but be sure they aren’t diluted. Aura Cacia is often available at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s for about $6/10ml in popular types like lavender, peppermint and tea tree. I really like this brand.
I have found clearance wrapping paper there for super cheap! And it’s great quality! Also cheap clearance gift bags and cards for 99¢.
Oh, I’ll have to start looking for those items next time I’m there, so this weekend. 😉
I love their men’s, women’s and kids socks along with many other items!
Yes, I agree – they always seem to have a nice selection of name brand socks.
I shop at TJ Maxx for designer handbags, perfumes, kitchenware, luggages and home decor.
They have too much of a selection for clothes. I find it easier to just shop online 🙂
I love the unique jewelry! You never know what you may find!
Under Armour especially for my children (9 and 11 years old). Girls sweatshirts are $16.99 and boys are $19.99-$24.99. This beats the UA Factory Stores and online outlet (even with 25% off coupons). It’s like a weekly treasure hunt when I make my Marshall’s/HomeGoods/TJ Maxx run.
(My kids own way too much UA but I can’t resist those deals!)
I’ve been waiting for a sale on Levis 501 skinny jeans, but they never dip low enough during the sales on the levis website…
Cut to last week when I went to Marshalls and found THREE pair of 501 skinnies in MY size, all different washes, hanging with my husband’s size jeans in the men’s dept. They were $15 or less each, and all of them were still for sale at levis.com for WAY more than that. I was so stoked!! I bought them all which sort of defeated the purpose of saving money… but oh well!
I also buy my kids’ camelbak waterbottles there pretty reliably for around $7.
I like Homegoods for kids toys and
books!
Under armour for my kids, love the selection of purses. And Nike and under socks for my son! One of my favorite stores
OPI and Essie nail polishes at a fraction of their regular price!! I have over 60 bottles all from tjmaxx and Marshall’s. It’s my “splurge.”
The Ralph Lauren Polo t-shirts for my skinny teenage boys. They zre so soft and hold up well wash after wash. Usually $16-20.
Hope all you TJX, Home Goods and Marshalls fans have the TJ Maxx Rewards Platinum Master Card whose rewards are in the form of certificates good at those stores plus Sierra Trading Post…I think you earn 5 points per dollar spent at TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Marshalls and Sierra Trading Post and, when you reach 1,000 points you get a $10 reward certificate. You also earn 1 point per dollar spent everywhere else Master Card is accepted. Seems like a decent deal to me – I have had this card for years and really enjoy my free shopping trips!
I love my TJ Maxx Rewards Card. I pay for everything I can on my card, pay it off every month and get $20.00 – $30.00 in rewards a month. : )
I like to splurge for high end purses or jewelry every now and then. TJ max online sells Gucci Prada Versace etc etc. and they clearance those high end items as well.
I love finding sunglasses (better designs and half the price of those at Target), belts, and purses. Also they have a lot of great laundry and household supplies. When I haven’t heard of the brand, I simply look the item up on Amazon to see the reviews and see if the price is reasonable. I love TJ MAXX.
Luggage ! Way cheaper than online for samsonite and good brands
Also wrapping paper and tissue
I love to buy the discounted plates when they go on sale for around $1. I find there are times throughout the year that I’m taking a plate of cookies, brownies, or even a single hot plate of dinner to someone and this lets me not worry about getting the plate back and as a bonus the plates are really cute! 😉
I love Under Armour finds for my 10 year old boy! And clearance kids clothes!
Another favorite is Socks! Always have great prices on men’s and women’s socks Especially athletic socks. I love that they are not white (I rarely do white wash and my college kids love the colored ones for the same reason).
Socks, sometimes the clearance shoes, sheet masks, and weird snacks are my favorite. I will occasionally dig to find perfumes I loved which got discontinued so its a great feeling to find a “treasure”
I always get my hubby’s underwear and undershirts on clearance st TJ Maxx. They have Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, and Polo for far less than department stores.
I love those huge 0.99 bags! Great to carry a ton of stuff. Some of my favorite sections are the beauty and pajama / lingerie, home goods and gourmet food, and pets! I often find great deals on toys and treats marked on clearance and this saves me a lot on spoiling my dogs 🙂 The gourmet section is fun to try new foods and health foods.
Egyptian cotton towel and Ralph Lauren sheet sets. I also always pick up cologne and body spray for my husband there.
I’m such a big fan of TjMaxx that I even open my own Facebook page of gear finds !!
I love jewelry and I had got amazing Jennifer Zeuner pieces for a very low price, also Free people clothing,La Perla underwear and Lucky Brand ..
I usually visit the store twice a week !
Thanks
Brenda, will you share the name of you FB page with us??
Thanks for this post Collin. I went there this morning and found a comfy pair of 90 Degree by Reflex workout pants. They retail for $88 and I spent $16.99! Woo hoo!
How cool! You’re very welcome! Glad you could score such a great deal!
