September is CHILDREN’S cancer awareness month.

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

Thank you for the heads up!

    • MamaJ

My child is a cancer survivor and angry comments like this really irk me and are part of the reason I’m thankful to no longer be on Facebook in September. All sorts of people get cancer and that all deserve empathy.

I have seen some Instagram pics and there are a ton more items. I don’t think mine has them up yet though.

Just be aware that many of these items do not donate any portions of the proceeds to breast cancer research. The last couple of years there were many “breast cancer awareness” items, but only a handful of those items helped support research. It does look like many of the items in the picture say they support it, so that’s actually awesome! Better than last year by far. Just wanted to give a heads up if this is something that is important to you. It wasn’t something I had ever thought of until a friend who’s mother had survived breast cancer pointed out to me.

    • Wehaf

Yes, lots of unscrupulous companies like to sell “awareness” items because they know people will assume they involve donations. Or they make minuscule donations. Generally if you check the websites of the organizations you’d like to support, they’ll have links to which items actually benefit them. For example, this is the “shop pink” page from the BRCF (Breast Cancer Research Foundation), which is a highly-ranked, reputable charity: https://www.bcrf.org/shop-pink

Just had surgery ..wed…and please in pain searching Internet.
Ended up being double partial mastectomy especially with 3 lymph nodes removed.
I have a 3 and 8 year old at home so it’s pretty rough. GET your mammograms. CHECK into the Breast Cancer and Cervocal Cancer Treatment Program. Hths.

    • Rita

My sister was diagnosed in June. Had a mastectomy on July. Going through chemo now. I didn’t know 1 in 8 women get this type of cancer and we learned from specialists that less than 20% of breast cancer is actually detected in a regular mammogram. It was strongly recommended to get a 3D mammogram. Many insurances do not pay for it but it’s roughly around $50 more so worth the cost for an earlier detection. Obviously, check with your insurance.

      • Rita

And forgot to mention, my sister’s was not detected in a reg mammogram. She even alerted techs about the lump she felt but nothing showed up in that mammogram. Had to then get further ultrasounds and MRIs for official diagnosis. Pretty scary stuff!

Heartmade crafts , I wish you the best I would help you if I was closer to you , I know as I can remember when they called me to come to see the dr at anytime , I called my husband to come home that I thought I had cancer that dr said to come in – while on our way he was crying thinking the worst asking what would happen with my hair all sort of things – I told him to stop that I would deal with it that I wasn’t going to die that , I needed to be here at that time I was taking care of a 92 yr old man I was his caregiver like a daughter to him – I also take care of a special needs daughter that’s 30 – after we got to the doctor they said I needed a mastectomy and a hysterectomy- they asked me if I wanted to go to MD Anderson or stay at my local hospital I chose my local hospital – I shed a tear only my daughters crying husband but I said no I’m not dying I do whatever – Thursday 2014- by Friday I made several calls made appts Monday Tuesday Wednesday decide it to have both surgery’s the same day – only took my time to get the 92 yr old help -I’m 50 , I don’t have sisters – only brothers – have 4 daughters – my worst part was telling my parents / since my mom had a kidney transplant 6 yrs ago this yr- my mother in law has never been there to help – but went through it – was on pain couldn’t sleep – but pain was gone by 2 week and back to driving arm a little sore walked slowly rest as much as you can – within 5 weeks lady that was taking care of 92 said she couldn’t help no more , so went back to work now his gone-took care of him until the end — friends some will help some don’t – sisters in laws don’t either – just do the best we can crying helps – I know I did after I got home asking why me ? When I can’t wear bras no more – I only have one breast sport bras worked for me Hanes – had to pack all my bras and get rid of them – couldn’t wipe my butt sore arms – cried – cried in traffic while driving hot flashes – went to see a dr about reconstruction of breast choose not to do it had to stretch skin – have a prosthesis choose not to wear it too heavy – to everyone best wishes now if your in Houston tx I help you either to run a errand Watch your children -blessings – now to go do a molding of a wheelchair for my daughter who had hip surgery thank you for a wonderful day and to allow us to vent — love ❤️ our selfs be strong keep fighting

    • *Angela-Miles*

Same here, I always get something every year. But the store near me carries the merchandise all year, guess it doesn’t sell well here or something.

  7. Estella

All items I found were $1.25, before tax in Ohio. Enjoy looking for & buying items.
