If you’d prefer to not get a credit card, consider signing up for the debit card instead of the credit version to receive ALL the same perks, no annual fee, and no credit check required. The debit card is tied to your existing checking account so you can also withdraw up to $40 cash at checkout in-store.

then I think of all the times they have had cards compromised. is it worth the savings?

I have the debit card and use it too much. But, I spent a day with a cyber security company and they said they avoid Target. So, I’ve worked in less spending there (and in general) and try to be more aware.

Just a warning, or maybe it is just me. I did this in August when the had the same coupon. I wanted to sign up for a red debit anyway… The coupon never came… I have been on the phone with target almost every week since! it usually takes about 40-45 min (on hold and talk, transferred around etc). they say they keep “sending” the coupon but somehow it never reaches me. They refuse to email it! Now they said they will debit my account for it during the week.We shall see…

How long does it take to get the card once you sign up?And do they tell you immediately if your approved for the debit card offer or is there a waiting period?
