I wish I could buy this for my 3 kids in K-2! 🙁 I love books!!
I did this my first year of teaching – the titles are not nearly as good as the ones they show in the advertisement! 🙂 You’re better off buying the dollar books throughout the year.
Oh great to know!!! Thank you!!!

If you live within driving distance of a scholastic warehouse you can get some great deals when they have sales. Sign up for notifications on the scholastic website. It is open to homeschoolers and parent volunteers. They typically happen in Dec and at end of the school year. Don’t just show up at a warehouse though!
If you have a once upon a child they mark all books at $1.50. I have found many amazing books there. Also thrift stores and yard sales are fantastic places to find like new used books. I have six kids and my oldest is in 2nd grade but reading at more of a 4-5grade level. We have a lot of books but my oldest three are boys and are rough on them so many have been tossed due to damage so I like spending a dollar or less on the younger kids books. For new releases we use the library and just borrow them.
My local one doesn’t do this — so this much be a store-to-store decision on pricing.
Darn, I have lived in several states and the all did this with books so I just thought it was all of them
Christin,
If you sign up for Scholastic Book Clubs as a homeschooling mom then you can do this sale! Plus, every purchase you make through the book club will give you reward points which you can redeem for FREE books or other fun things like Target gift cards. If you sign up when you place your first $25 book order you will get an extra $10 in books to spend right away and could you use my referral code 80283 so I get 250 points?
Great tip! Thanks!!
Check if your local library has book sales. My local library has quarterly sales and I find tons of kids books for $0.25 each. The best part is that all the proceeds go to fund the library’s programs that they offer, like free family movie night every month!
I second the local library trip! We find some great books every time we go. Only .25 for paperback and .50 for hard.
YES!! we always check the hallway book sale at our library and went in the spring for the first time – we got close to 200 books for TWO DOLLARS!!! (my school adopted Reader’s Workshop and our teachers really needed to beef up their library – this made it easy for me to turn around and donate them)
I have an old account that I set up prior to my homeschooling days. I am unavbl to set up an educator’s account because of my non-educator’s account. The website says that I already have an accout. Does anyone have a solution to that issue?
Hmm, Maybe try calling in to customer service to see if that can look into that for you – 1-800-560-6816 Hope that helps!
I scored this past weekend at a garage sale. She used to be a Kinder teacher and when she knew my 5yo son loved reading she gave us a great deal on a ton of books. So happy and thankful 🙂
Thabk you for the info! just shared this with my daughters teacher 😊
Oh good! You’re very welcome, Tammy!
