This fish tank looks really neat. I’m getting this for my son and my boyfriend. My son wants a fish and my boyfriend likes to grow herbs. What a perfect combo gift for them! Thank you for posting.

While this is very pretty and MUCH better than the itty bitty cups of water Bettas are sold in at stores – this fish tank is too small. Bettas need fresh water circulating and more stimulation than this. For many years I kept my Betta in a basic tank with nothing inside because pet stores lead us to believe that’s all that is required. I read a recent article in National Geographic about Bettas and started to do more research myself. While this is a very attractive tank, I would suggest fresh aquatic plants inside of it, an oxygen bubble and a heater. You can get all 3 items for around $30-40 total on Amazon. Hope I didn’t come off as a Debbie Downer – just trying to educate like someone did to me. Here’s a link on what I read if anyone is interested. πŸ™‚

Thank you for saying this. I always think about it when I see small tanks like this. And thanks for the link. Research is important for any living being you plan to bring into your home!

For what it’s worth, the company that makes these tanks actually discloses that this is the basic tank and encourages purchasers to add to it, with suggestions like a heater and plants. My version didn’t recommend the oxygen bubble, but my filter was a bit different. I think it did a better job of circulating the water than this version. I just thought you might like to know that this was considered by the inventors of this product. πŸ™‚

Well said. Thank you for posting this. I wish more people would consider that fish aren’t just a decorative item to throw in a tiny tank for display. They need lots of room to swim and things to stimulate them and to hide in.

That said, this is a neat concept. I wish they had put more thought into the fish habitat part of it though.

I do appreciate your response in consideration of the Bettas quality of life! Thank you for your comment.

My husband is an aquarium guy and we have all sorts of tanks and fish. We have a beta fish in a vase with real plants in it and the fish likes it better than the aquarium it was in. He does water changes with it by just running water at the right temp into it to filter the old out.

This seems a bit overpriced at $60 – IMO. I could not imagine paying $120.
