The only problem is it’s Christmas and you might walk out with a new car!🤣 I love this offer Hip2save, but I’m weak around new cars.

    • Liza (Hip2Save Sidekick)

LOL! It’s that new car smell, gets you every time! 😉

    Thanks! Love these offers

      You’re so welcome!

Worked for me but I can’t justify the hour this would take, not to mention how awkward it would be to tell the salesman “I’m only here for the gift cars promo 😳”

    • Hope

Some people state that they are just there for the giftcard up front. A lot of the sales guys just take their info and hand over the gift card. They don’t care, it’s not their money. Your miles may vary though. If I were that bold and strapped for cash I’d totally try it.
I can see why some people would feel bad about it, but people literally test drive cars ALL the time without eventrually buying. It’s really not that big of a deal. Now if you went there pretending to be interested taking up hours of their time, that’s another story.

I bet the salesperson would not care as long as you were upfront, so he/he doesn’t waste time and effort trying to make a sale that that was never going to happen.

Has anyone done this before? How long does it take?

I get that the car company puts out this deal in hopes of promoting the cars but what a shame for the poor sales person. They should at least get a gc too. Its such a waste of their time if someone is only there for the gc. There is still paperwork they have to do to justify the test drive. Plus honestly id feel so sleazy to waste my own time too for a $50 gc. What sales person wants to spend christmas week doing test drives for no reason. Lets be honest the kind of person running there for a free gc is not buying a car !!

    • Amyyyyy

I used to sell cars…. no need to feel too sorry for them 😉

  6. R

I would only do it if I was seriously needing a car or completely broke and needy..my own personal thought. Otherwise I wouldn’t feel okay about it.

I remember years ago a deal like this where people would go to the dealership and flat out say they are only there for the gift card and no chance of buying a car and the salesperson would just give them the card as to not waste either of their time. It does stink for the salesperson because they could miss a sale by taking test drives for no reason.

  8. Sue

I did this once and would never do it again. Not worth the harassment from the dealers. Plus they get your info and then continue to call or email you.

  9. Lissa

I think you should tell the salesman up front why you are there; give him the chance to just give you the gift card. At least they got you in to look at the cars.

There is no purchase required. Why feel any guilt taking part in a promo? I love these. Not only does it help me financially but I stay in the know for when I am looking for my next vehicle.

  11. Crystal sapari

I did this last year . i told the sales agent right away i waa there to test a vehicle in return for a gift card promotion. He was very nice and appreciated me telling him ahead of time so he didn’t feel he was wasting his time with me when he could have had a sale with another customer.

I did this last this early in 2018. We were in the market for a new hybrid. We learned a lot about Hyundai’s offerings. We ended up buying a Lexus hybrid, but felt good for having done the research (we looked at other brands too). The gift card came within a few days!

  13. Tori Nelson

Darn, we just bought a new Hyundai Santa Fe at the beginning of this month but also test drove the Kona beforehand.

  14. Raz

Cheap shot ! very unfair with Hyundai…

  15. FosterMomsNeverHaveEmptyNestSyndrome

I did the Cadillac test drive that was last year I believe-never saw that $100 gift card, and we were there over two hours. I finally had to just get rude with a guy and tell him we were not interested and then he proceeded to call me every couple of days for almost a month.

  16. Ivan

Not worth the hassle. But I’m also the type of guy that would never do a free weekend to listen to a timeshare pitch. They should offer $500 Amazon GC with car purchase. Would probably be more successful.

  17. Karen

I didn’t feel bad taking the gift card. I did buy the car, after all 🙂

  18. Sue P

My son used to sell cars and he does this whenever it’s available. He tries to go at a slow time (later in evening) and tells them up front why he’s there.

  19. Niecee

I’m pretty excited as I am looking to purchase a new vehicle and hyundai was on my list of test drives.

  20. Kayden

Went today and now just waiting for the email confirmation! (Which the paper says could take 3 days?!) The sales associate asked me straight up when I planned to buy a new car and when I said 3-5yrs he didn’t even have me test drive. I kinda wanted to test drive the Ioniq but glad I didn’t waste his time.

How could we check if our local dealer is a Participating Hyundai Dealership? As I went there in summer for the same deal, they said they don’t participate anymore.

    Thanks!
