Check out what others have to say about these backpacks…
I bought my 28 year old daughter a deluxe backpack in 1996 when she was 10 years old. That backpack carried her through two years of grade school, junior high, high school AND college. Do yourself a favor and buy one backpack that will last for years instead of buying a lower quality pack and replacing it every year. I ordered myself the same backpack that I have been carrying for almost ten years.
Bought these for my kids! They have lasted from junior high THROUGH college years. They STILL look great and are in great condition. HIGHLY recommend this backpack!!
I got this for a good friend and he LOVES IT!!!! Can’t go wrong w/ L.L Bean book packs! Many are complaining there is no water bottle holder, but why not add a carabiner and do it that way so no water will spill? I find them much more doable than a pack w/ a bottle holder because most of the bottle holders rip out. These are made VERY well! My son had his for many years in grade school. L.L. Bean has the BEST book packs one can get. You get what you pay for!

If your one the fence L. L. Bean has an amazing guarantee! Its for life. I bought my kids backpacks the zipper broke on one from my kid pushing it into a locker. No questions asked easy returns sent me free shipping label to ship it back. The quality is great. I know customer service is great if you call them to see if sale price is offered in another color.
They changed that lifetime warranty. I think it’s only 1 year now.
Correct – one year
I assume this size would be too big for a first grader?? Waiting on a deal for the smaller ones 🙂
Yes it’s pretty big, my 13 year old uses this backpack.
The junior size is tiny – did not fit the kindergarten binder. we returned that one last year in favor of the deluxe.
It’s fairly large, my high schooler uses it…but she got her first one this size in 1st grade. My kids use these for a good 3 years before we buy a new one just for something different.
Thank you so much for the post. My highschooler just informed me a week ago that her current packpack has busted at one of the seams and she needs a new one. (She is still using it since the hole is at the top by the zipper and not the bottom where things could fall out.) This was great timing!
You’re welcome Susan!
Mint green is sold out.
Thanks for letting us know! I have just updated the post!
Code Bean25 made mine only $11 and change.
Thanks for the code, Shauna! I have added that to the post!
I think the quality of the backpacks has changed. My husband and I both had ones that lasted years and years. When my kids began school, we bought them each one. The zipper on each backpack broke within a year and now they only have a one year warranty. We decided they are no longer the same as the sturdy ones we had forever.
