Head into your local Trader Joe’s where you may find beautiful potted succulents! We spotted aloe vera, Hens & Chicks, Stonecrop, Blue Star, Gesneden, Colorata & more.
Succulents are in the same family as Cactus plants and store water in their leaves and stems which is why their leaves seem sometimes waxy and thick. Succulents come in many varieties and colors and one trait that they all share is being low in maintenance and needing very little water.
They can be grown indoors or outdoors and are great for apartments and small spaces. If you plant them outdoors, they do great in rock gardens and you can even plant them between the seams in retaining walls!

IKEA also sells inexpensive succulents, both regular-sized as well as minis. I have a black thumb and have managed to kill even bamboo, but I can somehow keep my succulents alive!
