United Way and H&R Block teamed up to make this possible. I think there are a few income requirements, but it is so nice for those who qualify!
The most economical way to do your taxes is to print out the form and do it yourself. Use a paper printout as a worksheet and transfer your work to a fillable form. It’s not as complicated as it looks and it only costs postage. The IRS provides instructions online. Many people can fill out the 1040EZ form. Many people can find help from Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs at the local library. To qualify you need to make 55k or less annually.
Here’s a link to free file fillable forms through the IRS.

the most economical and easy way is to use a free online tax service, where you don’t even pay the price of postage. I used credit Karma, it took me 25 minutes, we have multiple W2’s, unemployment 1099G, college credits, 1099 R’s for cashing out some 401k’s. It was 100% free and they even included the form for me to request a payment plan for the monies I owe
I just did it like 10 minutes ago on Turbo Taxx and I Just got $20 refund from federal and state together 🙁 I FEEL POOR –
Better then owing! Just means you didn’t let the govt borrow your money to make money….
trade ya, we owe 1800 and already paid 24,000 in taxes in 2018!
Anyone know where I can get form 1041 for a trust for free? The most expensive Turbotax is over $100. Thanks!
I used Turbo Tax. Costco and Sam’s Club have them discounted the first of the year. Also Turbo tax had all the forms I needed including, student loan interest deductions, tuition and fees statements, and health coverage exemptions, which the H&R Block post above eludes that they don’t have.
