My son’s in the military, in Kuwait right now. They don’t give parent’s any kind of I.D.

Immediate family refers to if your son was married—his wife and kids get IDs. Your son’s parents (you guys), and his siblings don’t get military perks.

      Lori,
You could get an ID card if you became his dependent. There’s a process to becoming a parent dependent and most parents don’t qualify.

Think of it more as a discount for his household. His wife and kids if he has any live in his household that he provides for. If you become a dependent of his then you are now a member of his household.

I love when companies honor the veterans, as my Dad is a veteran, but I wish they would include first responders too. Law enforcement, firefighters and the US Armed Forces all “sign on” to enforce laws, help the public and fight for our country. I can never understand why companies don’t offer the discount to all of our heroes.

    • Kay O

Some companies do. Maybe not as much but a lot of food places will offer free or discounted meals and items to police and firemen in uniform. Also phone providers usually have a discount for police and fire as well as military. Though the military discount is probably higher

It never hurts to ask..!! I always try to remember to ask about military discount. Some places don’t offer it but the cashier will give me an employee discount instead. It’s not always advertised either.. Dairy Queen for example offers military discount. So, ask about first responder discount and you may be surprised!!

Well unpopular opinion i know BUT first responders get SOO many discounts. Its strange when people focus on the specific one they dont get. Where does it end ?? They get paid well and if im correct first responders CHOSE their profession. My tax dollars pay them and they are aware of pay rates prior to going to the academy ect.. i value any man or woman in those professions, fire fighters actually are a big valued group in RI where i live as they saved many lives in our infamous ‘Station Nightclub’ fire. They are superstars here but when i read things about their disappointment in a measly store or restaurant discounts makes me roll my eyes. But actually its usually the spouse who seems to be the complainer. People need to remember a discount somewhere is not an obligation its a priviledge. You are all appreciated but sometimes act greedy.. just sayin..

I always tag along with my Mom. I add a few things to her total and pay her later.

Lets not forget all the discounts they DO get. They all get paid well and im sure in their career decisions if/if not a discount at a store didnt impact their finally career decision. Focusing on what they dont get is silly. Especially since its so few and far between.

Discounts anywhere are a priviledge not a requirement. Appreciate the many many places that do.

If everyone in the family was expected to get the discount, then nearly every single person in the usa would. Almost everybody i know has a family member in the military. Cousin, uncle, parent, child. Where would it end. The store might as well just change their price to be 15% lower 🙄

    • Aimee

      Yes! I agree.

And who in the world would buy something from Kohl’s with only a 15% discount?!

      • MamaBear

Thanks for the tip H2S so many negative opinions here as of late. Don’t worry be happy.

        • SamIWillBe

Its not negative. You only say its negative because its not your side of the opinion. I am not being negative, im simply pointing out just like others have said today and other days, that because of what someone chose as their profession should not entitle someone to a discount. I say its not an obligation to the store to pick and choose professions that “should” get a discount. Teachers should get it too. If anyone is on the “life” frontlines, its them!!. I am not a teacher nor is any of my family. Im not negative its just a opinion

My daughter just went at Bremerton WA and she was told that the 15 percent is only good on Kohl’s brands only and not on the entire purchase…
