Have Chips Ahoy! cookies in the pantry?

If so, you’ll want to read this first! 😬 Mondelēz Global LLC, the parent company of Nabisco Chips Ahoy! and other name-brand snacks and desserts, has voluntarily recalled select 13oz packages of Chips Ahoy! Chewy Cookies because of an “unexpected” solidified agent that has had some adverse health effects.

At this time, there is no further detail as to what the unexpected agent in the cookies might have been.

Chips Ahoy Chewy package date

The packages of cookies were sold at retailers nationwide, and all have the UPC: 044000032234 and the following “best when used by dates” (located on the top left of the package by the lift tab):

  • 07SEP2019
  • 08SEP2019
  • 14SEP2019
  • 15SEP2019

If you happen to have any of these cookies in the pantry, it is recommended that you don’t eat them. Instead, be sure to check out this press release (PDF) and contact the company at 1-844-366-1171 for more information.

I had these recalled cookies in my pantry and called the 1-800 number. They said they will send me 4 coupons valid for ANY free Nabisco product (up to $4.29 value)! – Hip2Save Sidekick, Mary.

    Can we get refund?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You could always call in to the store you purchased them from to see if you can return them for a refund due to the recall. For more details or questions be sure to contact the company – 1-844-366-1171.

      Hope that helps!

    • Ok

      Wow, calm down.

    • Jennifer

Calm down. It was cornstarch that didn’t mix correctly. It will be ok.

An ingredient crystallized. They are recalling due to potential choking or teeth breakage etc

I implore people not to buy Nabisco products since they lied to the people and employees in Chicago and moved their plants to Mexico.

    • Jennifer

As the daughter of a Nabisco employee (for over 30 yrs), I respectfully disagree. They are a great company.

These cookies never last in our house long enough to make it to the pantry. ☺️

    • Lori

      Yeah same here!

    • Gisette

      Same!

    • Cara

Same, lol. I was wondering if the Use by Date is some type of challenge because there’s no way that a pack of chewy chips ahoy would last at my house until September.

    here’s the ingredient that crystallized:

“In some instances, the “cornstarch” in our Chewy Chips Ahoy! recipe did not fully incorporate in the mixing procedure and solidified in the baking process,” company representative Elisabeth Wenner wrote in an email.

I just tried to buy some at my Walmart. The expiration was Oct. 2019 but the cashier had a notice that came up on the register that said not to sell ANY of the Chewy Chips Ahoy.

Stop buying these products they are so bad for you anyway. Make your own at home from scratch.

    • shop4mybabies

not everyone can do that, A) the ingredients are incredibly expensive and i can get these cookies on sale for .99 cents, B) it takes a couple of hours to make a batch of cookies with one small oven C) i’m a crappy baker/cook and half of what i make will go in the trash and be a waste
