Be careful with the mulch! I got 10 bags today and 6 are moldy and leaking. I called Home Depot and they told me I would have to load them back into my vehicle and bring them back to get a refund. I’m very unhappy right now!!

    • Deb E

Eeek! I would be a very unhappy camper too! Noted and thanks for passing along your unfortunate experience. Hope your day gets better!

    • Amy

Just out of curiosity, you thought you could call a store, not show the product and expect a refund? I understand that it’s an inconvenience, but an over the phone return would cause a lot of stolen goods.

My Walmart outdoor furniture was recently delivered with a crack in the table. I sent photos and just asked for a glass top replacement. They said don’t send anything back to them. They sent me a whole complete new furniture set because they said they don’t or can’t just send out the glass top replacement alone. I was pleased and so glad I didn’t have to load up and repack furniture. They should gave other options at Home Depot, maybe like photos to show the mold etc?

Not sure about HD but Lowe’s has a great clearance rack on flowers. I found all kinds of assorted flowers/plants pricing between 50 cents to 5 bucks. Don’t forget to check if you make a Lowe’s trip.

Wow! Thanks for taking the time to comment, Denise! We’ll have to check that out!

I bought 2 raised garden beds when they did the sale and I have no idea where to start from. I might be returning them

    • Jen

Meaning not sure what to do? Grab a couple bags of dirt, fill the beds up, and pop in some veggie plants and seeds! Only if you’ll remember to water them though ;). It took me a couple years to learn that one.

  4. Susan

    bought one.

I went to Home Depot today; no annuals for $1.00. The manager didn’t even know anything about it. I showed him the post on Hip2Save and he said it wasn’t true (Buffalo, NY). Don’t waste your time……

    • Jiggles

Agree! I did the same thing in Michigan and the worker said that the sales are different in each state. Waste of my time and gas.

Same here went to San Diego home depot she scanned so many plants none came up to $1. We left without the plants but I did get some soil. Thank you.

    • Jeanette Bottone

I went for the mulch 5 for $10 but when I got there they were $3.50 each. Again, they didnt know of the sale that was stated on line.

  6. Jiggles

FYI: Just make sure your local store has these same deals going on before heading there (check your local ad). I live in Michigan, the $1 annual flowers were not on sale nor was the potting soil for $2. Wasted trip 🙁 (I asked the worker about this and he said the sales are different in other states)

Oh bummer! Thanks for the helpful warning!

Does anyone know if Home Depot will have that great deal on two bags of charcoal this holiday?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

We’ll be sure to keep a lookout!

    • Rose

Home Depot currently has charcoal on sale as Special Buy items:
      — $10 (reg. $15) Embers-20-lb-Twin-Pack-Charcoal-Briquets
      — $13 (reg. $24) Kingsford-20-lbs-Original-Charcoal-Briquettes-2-Pack (same $ at Lowe’s)
      https://www.homedepot.com/s/charcoal?NCNI-5

Previous sales on Kingsford at HD & Lowe’s have been $10, but for the 18.6-lb size twin packs, which I don’t see currently listed online….

If you don’t need 40 lbs of charcoal, Kroger has a coupon thru May 27 for
      — $4.77 for a 16-lb bag of Kingsford (was a $5.99 coupon in March; $3.77 last Father’s Day)
