Can anyone tell me what is the difference between the Architect and the Artisan one? Which one is better?
Hi, Tina! These are pretty close to the same. The biggest difference is that the Architect model has burnished stainless steel attachments and the Artisan has stainless steel with a white coating. Also, the Architect model has a one-piece pouring shield, instead of the 2-piece one included with the Artisan.
Hey Jennifer! Thank you so much for your answer. I now checked the photos of the Architect one and it seems that only the wire whip is stainless steel; the beater and the dough hook have white coating.
Do you think that one or the other is better, is the white coating durable?
If you read the details on the Architect, they will all be the burnished stainless steel. I think it’s just a preference of color. Some people are more partial to just stainless and others like it covered with color.
I have the white coated beater and dough hook and the paint/coating is chipping off in places. I have had it for a long time, but, I’d choose stainless if I were buying again.

Really, KitchenAid 5-Quart Architect Series Tilt-Head Stand Mixer is a useful and necessary device in every kitchen. I bought it 3 months ago and can’t imagine my cooking life without it.
What are the best gadgets in your kitchen? As for me, I like Wemo Wifi-Enabled Crock-Pot, Perfect Drink Smart Scale, NutriBullet Balance Smart Blender and, of course, my kitchen advisor – Kitchen Scale. Maybe, you advise me something else?!
