Am I the only 1 who is repulsed by the cheap plasticy smell of 90% of coolers/ice chests these days? Even after washing it out really well with soap and water, it still has that horrible smell! If I put a sandwich in a cooler it would totally taste like cheap plastic. Sure they’ve always had a slight plastic smell, but it never stuck around long. Also, the last couple of bottles of Advil liquigels I purchased actually had that same exact very strong plastic smell…every Advil I took tasted like cheap nasty plastic. I’ve taken Advil for decades & it never tasted like anything until recently. And the most recent bottle of expensive biolage conditioner that I invest in cuz it smells amazing…well that great smell was totally overpowered by that dreaded strong smell of cheap plastic. I dunno what exactly they’re doing differently with the plastic to give it that extra strong odor/taste/smell, but they really need to stop!

Agreed! For the past few years nearly all plastic type things have that overwhelming toxic scent to it. We are not the only ones who have noticed, tons of people online have been complaining even about something as essential as breast milk storage bags that smell like rancid death warmed over. Even something as simple as those packs of clear plastic shower caps that never have a scent to them all of a sudden it is hard to find some that don’t reek of chemicals. Sure would not want to put some of those on my head! Even the RVs and campers that cost a fortune are making people sick off of the plastics and materials used inside and they can’t use them. I could go on and on with the rant. I am with you, all of it does need to stop!

Ok good, my boyfriend & parents just think I’m nuts when I bring it up or complain about it. I feel like you’d have to have no sense of smell & dead taste buds if you don’t notice it!

I have been going around smelling different ice chests in the stores…I can only imagine what a weirdo I probably look like, but oh well. Of course most of the high end coolers don’t have the bad smell, but I have also found a few affordable coolers that only have a slight plastic smell. 1 of them was a Coleman brand but it cost a bit too much for me. This 1 would be right up my alley if it doesn’t reek!🙂

I have noticed it too. I can barely walk into a dollar tree or dollar general, they both smell like overwhelming plastic chemicals to me! I also noticed glad storage bags have gotten really bad. It can’t be good for our health!!
