Anyone ever seen the movie Soylent Green? I think it was from like the 60’s but I had to watch in high school. I don’t think I can ever buy anything with the name soylent 🤮 Wish someone would have thought this name through a little more lol Or maybe they did 🤷🏼‍♀️

SOYLANT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!! I think about this every single time I see this product.

    • Kathleen

I think the same thing 🤣

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I think of it as well! LOL, Melina R!

    • Lori

My thoughts EXACTLY! “SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!” Lol

Yes! The first time I saw an ad online for the product I thought it was a joke.

Some of the bottles have $1 off coupon tags around the bottle neck. I believe you can use up to 4 per transaction.

Thanks so much! We will look for those, The Cashier Over There!

    • tina

You can. I have done it before to get them for under $1

Aren’t these the ones that are bad for you?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I have not heard they are bad for you, Tina. I do like them myself.

Tina, Any type of soy is an endocrine disruptor. Fed my 3 babies soy formula in the late 80’s/early 90’s b/c they couldn’t drink cow’s milk Formula and all of them have hormonal issues as adults. My boys both have low testosterone levels and my daughter has been a mess since she got her first period at age 12. I read labels very carefully for soy.

Soy isn’t said to be good for babies. I had to cut dairy from my diet and soy because of separate tummy issues for my baby from my milk. She never spit up again (after cutting dairy) even though we’re told spit up is normal. And she stopped having tummy aches and poo issues after I cut the soy.

I don’t give my (now) toddler soy milk (waited till she was 1 to give her soy products – and I aim for non-GMO), but she eats tofu and edamame. It’s a source of calcium and since she needs calcium to grow and she doesn’t like spinach every meal, something’s got to give. There are coincidences. It’s hard to prove if a certain food causes a certain problem unless it consistently causes the same problem in everyone. My husband is from an island in Asia and they grow up on a lot of tofu and soy milk (the not smooth kind). There aren’t rampant hormonal issues. I think there were some studies on GMO soy causing the issues. I’d have to find it, though.

I haven’t heard Soylent is bad for you, but food studies are pretty flip floppy. One day they say eggs causes heart disease, the next it prevents it.

I find these taste good (though a bit powdery), except the ones with L-Theanine. They are gross tasting to me. These are really filling at 400 calories. I bought them the last few times they were under $1 and I regretted it. They are cheap for the calorie content at this price, but it took some push to get myself to drink them by the expiry date. I still have two left. Even at this price, unless you love protein drinks and are looking for a non-dairy one at a cheap price, I do not recommend. I’ll stick to Vega.

I definitely agree with food studies being flip floppy! LOL
