Can any of you clever Hip2Savers give me ideas to turn these into a Valentine. I have to make 15 Valentines and was thinking about baking something but would rather give something that would last a lot longer. Thanks

    • Kathleen

That’s a neat idea! I’m excited to see ideas using the feeders!

Where is the feeder made? I don’t think I’d trust my sweet hummers to a feeder made in China.

        • Beach Is My Happpy Place

For three years, I have bought these cheap feeders. I clean them frequently to keep mildew out of the feeding holes. The same hummingbirds come back every year! Makes me happy! I love watching them!

These days looks like everything is from China. We do not have the manufactures in USA anymore.

I like MEI’s idea. “Sugar is sweet and so are you”. Maybe put pixie sticks inside if you wanted a little candy…..

    • Surgibelle

And Ruby’s idea…. a little birdie wants to be tour valentine. Cute.

You could attach a little note saying something like, a little birdie would like you to be your valentine. Or something to that effect.

How about a “sugar is sweet and so are you” kinda thing with enough sugar in a heart bag to make the hummingbird mix? Probably like 1/4 cup of sugar if it holds a cup of water (its a 1 to 4 ratio).

    Oooh..that’s a cute idea Mei!!!

  5. Ruby C

Meant to say, a little birdie would like you to be their valentine

  6. ChrissyBozz

I have bought numerous different hummingbird feeders over the years-cheap to expensive. The birds in my area LOOOOVE these cheap feeders the most!! Go figure!

  7. Justine

That’s a great find! Just make sure you change out your hummingbird nectar & clean the feeder on a regular basis or it can grow mold / harbor bacteria that can become deadly to hummingbirds.

Last year I bought like 6 of these and they all leaked. I figured since they all were leaking I was doing something wrong after filling them. Did anyone else have that issue?
I love these little feeders so I can hang a few since hummingbirds don’t like to share and are so territorial.

I had the same problem. I’m surprised so many people like them. I thought it was junk (I mean it is only $1). I ended up throwing it out without using it. :/

    • Gramma C

      Mine all leaked

  9. Aunt Jenny

I purchased one feeder and set it up. It doesn’t leak and I had a hummingbird stop and drink from it, I live in So. California, after being up 2 days. Thanks for all your Valentine suggestions ❤️

these feeders suck. they leak. You get what you pay for. I have 4 feeders in my yard I paid $20 for each
well worth it, because I have had them for 20 years. The ones featured in the dollar store ad did not last one year

How can I get my local DollarTree to sell hummingbird feeders? It’s July and they are no longer in stock.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Valarie! It looks like these are gone online now as well. Hoping they are available in stores and online again real soon!
